This is a 16 volume set in leather and marbled boards from a limited edition of 774 copies, this being number 420. (This set will only be sold within the United States) . It is a handome, complete set in blue Moroccan leather 3/4 spines and corners with blue-gilt marbled paper over the book board covers. The top edges are gilt, fore-edges are untrimmed, end papers marbled, with some Illustrations and tissude guards in each volume. The spines have raised bands with a gilt flower design and titles. The covers and interior pages are very clean. Some careful, professional repair has been done to some of the spines. The very edge of some of the marbled boards show light wear. The interior hinges are very tight with no breaks. The leather on the edges of the spine is a little fragile on some of the volumes - some show a hint of faint breaks in the leather mostly at the middle of the spine. There is a small triangle shape lifted from the marbled cover on one volume. Some volumes have an etched , tasteful, armorial bookplate of the former owner. This is a hardcover book (French language) in leather and marbled boards with the original book in wrappers bound in. The covers are 3/4 maroon morocco leather with maroon and dark maroon-black marbled papers. There are six compartments with raised bands an the title and author stampled in and filled with gilt. Marbled end papers in a creem and reddish-marron. The original book is in spring green art paper with the title page printed on the cover and repeated inside the book. No date is mentioned, this book appears to have a photogravure by Rajon and not an etching on the frontipiece. There is a book plate of a former owner laid in - not glued. It belonged to a former Ambassador to France (from Eastern Europe) . The bookplate is nicely designed and printed. The leather binding is in very good plus to near fine condition. There is a very slight touch of wear to the corners. Clean, crisp, with a tight binding. There are no marks or writing. The covers of the wrappers are quite clean as are the interior pages. Paper covered book of sixty-two uncut pages. Paper cover is a facsimile of the title page, is printed in black and red, and includes an engraving of Hans. States Second Series of the 'Breitmann Ballads'. The interior is clean and near fine, the paper covers have spots and some ragged edges with a short closed tear and chip on the front cover and a chipped corner and edge on the back. Spine carefully reinforced with archival material. First American Edition BAL 11565. The work was published previously in London in Hans Breitmann's Christmas, also 1869. Fun adventure ballads in English-German dialect with a little Latin inserted. ; 8vo
