The book would be in fine condition if not for a former owner name and place written on the front, pasted down end paper, under the jacket flap. This is a cloth covered book in brown with black ink title on the cover and spine. Crisp, clean, nicely bound. The pages are very clean. There are no other marks or writing. There is a faint hint of discoloring on the end papers. The dust jacket is a beige with red printing on the cover and faintly on the spine. Unclipped. SIGNED This is a First Edition hardcover signed / inscribed book by the author and with a dust jacket.. The book is inscribed to Joseph Shipman. . It is dated 5/22/45 and the signature and inscription is on the front free end paper. This is from the 'Distinguished Poets Series of Contemporary Poetry' - it is Book 2 in the Series. It was designed and set in Goudy Text and Bookman type and printed by Carroll Coleman at the Prairie Press in Muscatin Iowa. There are 37 pages. The book is covered in a yellow mustard cloth with the title on the front cover and spine in black ink. The dust jacket is a delicate brownish paper with the title and border in red on the frong panel and on the spine. IThe book is tight, bright, crisp, and clean with straight edges and corners. The jacket has a water stain at the spine from top to bottom and at the bottom the water line extends to the front panel - about a half an inch horizontally and one and a quarter inch vertically. There is a little chipping at the to and bottom - most noticeable on the rear panel. The paper used for the jacket has toned/darkened - mostly near the spine. The jacket is now wrapped in an archival, see-through, and removable mylar cover. There are no other marks, writing, spamps, stickers. It is edited by Mary Owings Miller. There is a note at the rear of the book that 30 copies of the book were signed and numbered. There is no number on this book. There is only the signature-inscription. The rear panel of the jacket describes the set-up of Contemporary Press and their well known honored poets. There is more information on the inside jacket flaps. ; 8vo; 37 pages
