Softcover
This is a book size pamphlet of black and whote photographs from WW Ther are 114 pages stapled in a medium brown art paper cover with turquoise type on the cover with the title "The Absolute Truth". There is no title or copyright page, however most of the photos have the words "U. S. Official" printed below the image on the left side. The second image has a printed logo in the upper right corner on the image that says "SIGNAL CORPS USA. The photos are of mostly human remains. Some of the photos include survivors taking care of the bodies. Below each photo are printed words such as Dust to Dust, Aviators' Sacrifice, Our Boys, Shell Shattered. The cover has a closed split at the bottom of the spine fold in the cover - now repaired with archival mateirals from the interior. The price is is low because of a diamond shaped stain that is quite visible on the interior pages and faintly seen on the cover. Dampness may have caused the brown paper to leak a light brown color. The diamond shape if about three inches in height on both sides of the upper staple. At the center of the book - the stain is less than a inch across. There is a former owner name and number on the first blank page in pencil. 133 THE HOLY BIBLE CONTAINING THE OLD AND NEW TESTAMENTS, TRANSLATED OUT OF THE ORIGINAL TONGUES; AND WITH THE FORMER TRANSLATIONS DILIGENTLY COMPARED AND REVISED.
New York, NY American Bible Society 1850 Hardcover
This is a bible published in 1850 and bound in wrap around leather with an extension of leather that can be slipped under a strap to hold the cover securely. The book has been well cared for - there is no wear to the handsome leather which is without decornation, but with a title on the spine on gilt - Holy Bible. There is nly minor wear to the rear end paper and the interior is clean, but about 15 pages of the 805 pages (of the Old Testament) and 250 pages (of the New Testament) have been turned to mark a place or slightly bumped. One page in Genesis has a tiny pencil note. The pages have only a few foxing spots - nearly alll the pages are very clean and crisp. The page edges are gilt with a little scuffing, The front end paper has a small faint former owner note and date of 1853. The book is 5 3/4 " tall and 3 1/2" wide, plus 1 3/4" thick. The key feature of this book is the near fine condition of the leather. And perhaps there is interest to a family with an Ohio heritage - on two pages between the Old and New there are two pages for Family Records - five names (Clark and Colby) have been clearnly written with dates - all in the local of Ashtabula Co. Ohio. There is a separate title page for the New Testament as follows: The New Testament of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, translated out of The Original Greek and with the former translations diligently compared and revised. Also dated 1850. There is a very delicate fabric page marker laying between two pages - separated from the binding.; 12mo; 1055 pages
