The book is tight, bright, crisp, clean, but with a former owner book plate on the front inside free end paper. The cover is a beige cloth with a title on the spine. There are no other marks or writing. The dust jacket shows were - short 1.8 inch tears at the top and bottom of the spine. A tiny touch of wear at the other corners, plus a very small chip on the lower rear corner of the spine. . The jacket is on off-white paper and has a black ink drawing of four characters from the book and a publisher note on the bottom in red - "A compelling novel by the greatest Spanish writer since Cervantes". No clipping of the dust jacket flaps. No other marks or writing. The top edges are tinted a dark grey. The translator from Spainish to English was Toby Talbot. The jacket artist is not credited, the name on the drawing appears to be 'Jonas'. ; 8vo; 282 pages
