Black and white engraving printed c 1895 and in fine condition of many beetles including the Buring Beetle, the Green and Gold-weevil, the frightening pupa of Prioptera Whitei and more. Beetles are rendered in fine detail with delicate lines. Each beetle is labeled with their Latin and/or common name. Print is neat and clean with no tears or chips. Paper has a slight yellowing consistant with age. Print measures 9 1/2" x 6 1/4" and image measures 9" x 6" (height by width). ; 9 1/2" x 6 1/4"

Paper has a slight yellowing consistant with age and one light finger mark on the top edge which does not extend within the image area. Print measures 9 1/2" x 6 1/4" and image measures 9" x 6" (height by width). ; 9 1/2" x 6 1/4"

This is a beatiful chromolithograph print of pigeons. It was printed in Germany in 1896 . The art, color, ink, and execution of the print process is admirable. This print has a subtle, vertical fold mark in the middle of the print. It is double matted in acid free complementary shades of green which picks up the suble green-grays of the ink. The outside dimension of the print is 12" high x 16" wide and will fit a standard frame size; frame not included. The image dimension of the window is6 3/4} high x 10" wide. There is a tiny number on the print and a legend of the birds in German and Latin accompanies the print. The print is hinged, not glued. It is supported by a foam board backing and all is wrapped in a removable acetate. ; -

Cassells 1875 
This is a print published in 1875 by Cassells in London. The names of the bull dogs are Doon Brae & Smasher. It is an original chromolithograp h with a wide margin and all the credits that were printed by Cassells are present below the matboard. The mat color is in a complimentary colorand acid-free. The matboard overlaps the image border slightly. The colors in the image are several shades of brown, plus green and a pinkish-shrimp color. The matboard is in a neutral beige-gray that is in the background of the print. The image/window size is about 6 1/2 inches high x 8 3/4 inches wide. The outside dimenstion of the matting is cut to fit into a standard, ready-made frame (11 x 14 inches) . The print has been hinged, not glued. The print with the matboard has been wrapped in acetate to protect it. It can be hung on the wall, as is, since the acetate has a glass like quality - or - the acetate can be removed and the matboard can be inserted in a frame for hanging. A frame is not included. This print is nearly 125 years old, but in excellent condition. ; -
