No marks or writing. The dust jacket is unclipped (original price of $5.95 present) . There are several small chips, a closed tear, several crease lines related to the the tear and chips, and overall edge and corner wear. This is a hardcover book published in 1895. There are several artists who have illustrated the book and the cover was designed by Margaret Armstrong. Black and white line drawings within the text and on full pages is by Charles Dana Gibson, B. West Clinedinst, and W. H. Hyde. The contents are 10 comical stories somewhat related to etiquette. Some of the story titles are The Use of Time, The Conduct of Life, TheSummer Problem, Education. The cover is a beige cloth with gilt and green decoration. There is a striped border in green, a border in gilt, a gilt and green title in script and design. The cover has some corner wear and the bottom edges are a little frayed. There is a sprinkle of spots on the front cover, some soild on the rear cover, and the spine has darkened and the gilt title weakened. There is a former owner name on the on the front end paper. The jacket has some wear - mostly on the spine - there is light chipping at the top and bottom of the spine. There is a fine line of color loss at the edges of the spine and two small abrasions on the front cover of the jacket that is hard to see, but can be fault. The jacket is in a new archival see-through and removable mylar cover. The book is in fine condition - tight, bright crisp, clean. There is a blind stamp with Hemingway's name impressed at the bottom of the front cover. The title on the spine is in silver metallic ink and is very bright. The end papers and pages, plus edges are crisp and clean. There are no marks or writing. The title page shows the original year of publication. The letter A from the original is present on the copyright page. The dot is present on the rear bottom corner, indicating Book Club. Well cared for. ; 8vo; 140 pages

There is a art drawing of a women in bornw and white (sepia shade ink) with a 1900's type dress long hair, a large hat and a look on the face of sad nostalgia. It is presented in an oval. It is printed on paper and pasted down on the front cover (as designed) . The title and author's name are blind stamped above nd belo the image (reverse embossing) and the names are filled with brown ink. The cloth cover color could be called buttercup yellow. The covers are very clean and the binding is tight. The end papers are pristine. There are no marks or writing. The book was printed at the Plimpton Press, Norwood Mass. The interior pages are crisp and clean and there no hints of being read. There is a little bump to the tip of the front upper corner. Well cared for. Near gift condition of a 1906 book. Gordon Holmes is the pseudonym for Louis Tracy. Louis Tracy ( 1863-1928) was a journalist and author. M. P. Shiel was a collaborator on a few portions of the book. ; 8vo; 185 pages
