This is the 1917 edition on Japon Imperial paper with No '42' (of 48) stamped in. This book is 3/4 brown Morocco with marbled paper covers and ruled lines in gilt. The book was bound by Minos of Paris. (Relieur, 15, Rue du Petit-Pont) . The end papers are a closely matching design and color (green with touches of brown. The original wrapper is bound in (both front and rear. There is a Preface with the initials of Bourget, 520 numbered pages, plus a Table of Contents. Wood engravings are by J. L. Perrichon (original wrapper, frontispiece, seond title page and head and end decorative designs. ) The condition of the leather is good - there is some slight rubbing and a very tiny touch of bookboard showing at the corners. The leather on the spine was overlaid with a design of alternating shades of brown Morocco with gilt titles. There are two small chips on one corner of the desing, not not at the edge of the spine. The spine edges are strong. The binding is tight. There are no marks or writing. The end papers and the pages are crisp and clean except for a some smudging on the original front and rear wrapper. There is a light touch of foxing to the first and last blank paper. The top edges are gilt. A rayon ribbon marker is present but worn at the top edges. The book is small, but thick (2 inches - 520 pages - 2 & 1/2 pounds in weight) and may require extra postage if shipped internationally. ; 8vo; 522 pages

This is a First Edition or early edition of this music compilation by William B. Bradbury. The publisher is shown as H. M. Higgins in Chicago which may have closed down at the address provided (117 Randolph St, but restarted by one of the Higgins at a different address in 1860) earlier than the date attributed to the year of publication for this Bradbury work (1861 - Golden Chain) . Bradbury was a composer as well as a businessman - one of his most composition is Jesus Loves Me (at a date after this book) . This book is made of book boards covered in paper. The book has been well used and may have been dropped in water as there is a water line in the upper corners of the pages starting about 99 through the last page - 127. There is also a slight ripple in the paper. Though the binding is tight, there is wear at the top and bottom of the spine which includes a chip of the blue cloth binding at the bottom of the the spine. The paper cover is darkened and worn around the edges. The rear of the cover is also printed with a art rendering of the Bradbury store at 427 Broome St. There is a spot on the bottom corner and some chipping aroung the edges. The paper covering the book boards is worn at the edge of the board on nearly all edges. The page on the rear of the book is repeated on the inside pasted down end paper. The rear pasted down paper promoting Pilgrims' Songs. The first page is missing. There are songs for 3 through 127 and the last page is table of contents by song titles. There are some numbers in pencil on the Table of Contents. There are no other marks or writings. Quite worn in appearance. Still serviceable. Collectible as a first or early edition. (Not in WorldCat by this publisher). ; 8vo; 127 pages
