Since the color of the cover is the same as the page beneath, the chips are not as noticeable as they would be with white paper pages showing through beneath the cover. The book is now protected from further chipping by a see-through, removable over wrap of archival mylar. ; 8vo

This is a soft black-grey cardstock paper cover with yapped (overlapping edges) and silver print with pictorial border on front cover. Slight wear to edges where it overlaps the pages. Binding very tight. Pages clean. States second edition on cover. Contains typed signed letter by author, pasted in, and dated Denver, 1956 on letterhead of author. There is browning on the reverse blank side of the page where the letter is pasted in - a reaction to acidic glue or paper. The title says 'livestock', but the book is about other farm animals and more. One poesm is titled "I'd Rather be a Hen". There is one page with illustrations (offset grey inks) - it is titled "Co-authors" and there is a rooster, steer, horse, hens, donkey, and a man assumed to be the author. ; 8vo
