This is a reprint of the 1735 document put into book form by The American Geographical Society in 1922. It is in a slipcase and has a map bound in and a three page brochure from The Society offering background is laid in. This book is a limited edition, # 663 of 790. The map facsimile is bound in and has six panels in what would be considered fine condition if not for a 1/4" corner crease. The map title is "A Map of Virginia according to Captain John Smiths Map Published Anno 1606 Also of the Adjacent Country called by the Dutch Niero Nederlant nno 1630 bt John Senex 1735. The border and boundaries are highlighted in three colors. The paper is handmade. It was printed by Douglas C. McMurtrie at the Conde Nast Press in Greedwich. The covers are beige-taupe paper with a vellum paper spine. There is a faint darkening on the spine. There is no title. There are no marks or writing on the end papers or pages. However, there are two spots on the first two pages where the paper contains a flaw on each page (bottom corners) . The slipcase has some wear, now repaired, at the bottom of the back and other slight wear to the corners. The slipcase is covered in the same paper as the book - nicely designed. ; 8vo; 20 pages
