This is an ex-library 2 volume hardcover first edition. The book is bound in a maroon cloth library binding. The covers are neat, tight, straight, and clean. The titles on the spine are in gilt, including library call numbers. The end papers are clean except for a library label on the pasted down front end paper. The pages are in good condition - crisp, clean, toning on the tips of the edges. There are library pinhole perforations on the front two blank pages and the title page. There is also a three letter stamp on the reverse of the title page and large library stamps on the bottom edges. A former owner's name is written near the top of the title page in brown ink. Volume 2 has a water mark on the first eight pages in a small space near the top of the gutter. There is a little chipping on the fore edge of the blank papers which appear to have been added in the rebinding. The original 1785 paper appears to be without any tears or chipping. Text in English. A very good reading copy from the original edition. ; Vol. 1/2/2008; 8vo
