This is a gift condition fine hardcover book in a fine slipcase. The book has been well cared for. No marks, no writing, no wear to the book or the slipcase. There is a gilt title on the side of the slipcase and a tooled (reverse embossing) title and Kennedy signature with the birth and death date on the cover and the title on the spine, both in gilt. There is a Foreword by Theodore C. Sorensen and a Dedication by President Lyndon B. Johnson. The contents include text and illustrations - photos, sketches and drawings. There is half of a narrow band that wrapped around the book, It has words that one of the illustrations is that of a watercolor by Jacqueline Kennedy that hung close to the President's desk. The book contains the earliest tributes selected by the editors, Salinger and Vanocur. One is a drawing to two children of Columbia crying while saluting. Adjacent to is is a letter from the President of Venequelas addressed to Caroline and John - with words to Caroline reminding her that her father brought her to the door of the White House to meet him (Romulo Betancourt) .
