This is a softcover book with decorative suede covers. It contains a combination of pages for new baby details, places to paste in photos, advertising, poems, and the basics of caring for a baby. Four of the pages have been filled in, two briefly with small writing, two others were filled with names of people giving gifts. There is no other writing and there are no paste-ins. The book is handsome because of the covers and the beautifully decorated pages and color. The front cover is embossed with a flower border and title. It is a brown soft suede with overlapping edges. There is a cute baby in a sun-bonnet who appears to be tending a garden. The interior illustrations are a very charming with illustrations containing babies, fairies, butterflies, birds, acorns and oak leaves. There are babies relaxing and sleeping on branches of trees. There are decorated alphabet letters to start a poem. The ads are all for companies furnishing baby needs and the places of business are all in Lima, Ohio. There are 94 pages total. The condition of the covers is quite good - there is some wear at the top of the spine and one corner is complete, but is starting to wear. Suede covers do not usually survive. The binding style with the extended covers (called yapp edges) become vulnerable to stress. There is a copyright date of 1915. The verse and decorations are both by Melcena Burns Denny. ; 8vo
