London Messrs. Henry And Company 1897 First Edition Hardcover Illustrated by Lucien Pissarro
This is a hardcover book without a jacket. The book is a collection of prose, poetry, and art with an original woodblock (in five colors) by Lucien Pissarro who also designed the end papers. There are black and white small woodblocks by Edward Calbert and Samuel WIlliams (stated) . The art consists mostly of photographic facsimiles. Some of the artists are Rossetti, Burne-Jones, Crane, Ricketts. The brown cloth covers have a gilt title and design of a peace dove. The end papers are decorated. The covers are generally clean; there is slight wear to one of the gilt doves; the title on the spine has faded; there is some edge wear and a couple of spots. There are no marks or writing. The pages are clean and well bound in spite of the weight of the paper. The front and bottom edges are untrimmed and slightly discolored. There is some age-toning on the first and last blank pages. There are 266 pages, plus 7 pages of listings for other books published by the publisher, Henry and Company. There are head and tail decorative designs in the style of Burne-Jones. The last page states the printer (Swan Electric Engraving Company) The following statement follows: Testimonials from . The Late Sir John Millais, The Late Lord Leighton, Mr. G. F.
