This is a an early printing (in a hardcover with a dust jacket) of this book by Dixon which was the first in Dixon's series on flying stories for young children. The book has meduim brown cloth covers with blue-black lettering on the cover and the spine (with an aircraft outline in blue-black ink, also on the cover) . There are pictorial end papers - a different image of an aircraft, in red) . All the pages are clean and in good condition. The book has a tight binding and straight spine and corners. The top edges are tinted a dark blue. There is a handsome full page forontispiece image in black and white of an aircraft over Paris with the Eiffel Tower and spotlights. The story centers around the Charles Lindbergh flight. The background is black and the objects are white as if lighted. There is no wear except for a slight curve inweards to the bottom of the spine and a check mark on th epage that lists Heros of the Air. . Clean covers and pages. . There is a simple gift edition in ink on the front end paper. 214 pages with four pages of advertising with books in series published by G & D. The dust jacket has edge chipping but is now protected in a new, archival, see-through, removable mylar cover. There is also a light lift of paper on the rear panel from a label removal. The cover art, also by Walter Rogers) is an aircraft over the ocean flying in the rain. ; 8vo; 218 pages
