This is a hardcover book that states First Edition (F-A) , without a jacket, most lkely as designed in 1926, the year of publication. The book has a maroon cloth cover with a blind-stamped border and the Harper logo, also blind-stamped. The title on the spine in gilt is dulled. There is a former owner name (Gertrude F. Purdy) in gilt which is dulled and difficult to read from a distance if the book was on a shelf. Otherwise the covers are straight and the binding tight. There are two faint marks - a very faint indent without a break of cloth and a spot with a different sheen than the rest of the cover. There are no other marks or writing. The interior end papers and pages are crisp and clean. All texte and in English. Field was and Americna author who was a friend of King Edward VII and lived mostly in Paris and London. ; 8vo; 297 pages
