This is a softcover book published by the Blackfriars at the University of Chicago in 1922. The production of Anybody's Girl was Eighteenth Annual College Comic Opera for that year. It was held at Mandel Hall on May 5, 5, 12, 13. This was a student production. The Blackfriars was named after the theatre in London and there are two pages about the theatre written by Charles Breasted in 1920. There is a list off all members since 1904 and there is another page devoted to the staff of 1922 with five photos and a list of names. There is a group photo and list of names for the Brothers of the Order, a bio of the Producer, Hamilton Coleman and a short briefing on the play. There are two pages with an index of songs and a photo and list of the Orchestra, Cast, and Chorus. The music and lyrics start on page 17. The cover appears to be a woodblock print in black, white, and shades of orange. A name appears on the cover - it is most likely the artist - Rudolph Samuels. The book has a tight binding and the interior pages are all clean with no marks or writing. The cover has a former owner name in ink at the top of the front upper margin and is repeated on the rear cover in pencil including the name of the residence hall at the U. There is smudging on the rear which is white. The front cover has some very faint pencil writing on the left and right margin. There is a little spotting in the margin and light wear to the corners. Tall, wide, lightweight. ; 4to; 62 pages

This is a softcover book published by the Blackfriars at the University of Chicago in 1920. The production of Barbara Behave! was the Sixteenth Annual College Comic Opera for that year. It was held at Mandel Hall on May 21, 22, 28, 29 . This was a student production. The Blackfriars was named after the theatre in London. There is a page of the covers of productions from 1908 through 1919 in black and white. . There are two pages with photos and text about Board of Superiors followed by a list of Lay Brothers and another about the staff - with photos. This is all followed with a page about the play the cast, the producers, the musicians, and background. The music and lyrics start on page 17. The cover appears to be a woodblock print in black, white, and shades of green. A name appears on the cover - it is most likely the artist - Birren. The book has a tight binding and the interior pages are all mostly clean with no marks or writing, but there is a little smudging at the page edges and a touch of wear at the corners. . The cover has smudging and some small spots. . The cover has a former owner name in ink at the top of the front upper margin. There is smudging on the rear which is white. There is some spotting in the margin. There is a little wear to the corners. Tall, wide, lightweight. ; 4to; 80 pages

This is a soft cover book / booklet - a Souvenir Program for a Chautauqua presentation in Muscatine, Iowa in 1913. This is a stapled paper cover booklet in ver good plus to near fine condition. The binding is tight, the paper and condition is in near pristine condition, crisp, clean, bright. There is one small faint spot on the front cover and a short (1/4") closed tear on the cover - now repaired with archival, nearly invisible tape on the inside of the cover. There are no marks or writing, no tears, no chips, no creases. The cover is partly Art Nouveau in a green and violet design. The title page indicates that the program is Uner Auspices of Muscatine Civic Association. Names listed are Oscar Gresheim and Prof. Paul F. Voelker. There is advertising of local businesses throughout. Performers are featured, some with black and white photos. There were four performances each day from June 26 through July 4. ; 8vo; 36 pages

This is a softcover book about Federico Garcia Lorca - a bibliography, anthology, his life (overview) , and his popular songs. The book is in Spanish - there are black and white photographs throughout the first half of the book and music for a portion of the book. The book is printed on glazed paper. The cover is a heavy weight art paper. The interior of the book is in near find condition, however the cover has some black marks that appear to have transferred something from an adjacent book - perhaps the look of black tape that might have rubbed against the front cover - it affects the bottom right quadrant of the cover. There is a short closed tear across the spine and into the front cover a little. There is a little discoloration to the cover spine and some edges and there are two scuffs to the edge of the book that extends beyond the edge of the text black. Some pages have not been opened. The Hispanic Institute is at the Casa Hispanice located at Columbia University. The book was printed in Cuba. ; 4to; 151 pages

This is a program published by The Katz Company of Kansas City - as a thank you to the customers of Katz Drug stores. Liberace performed with Jennie Tourel of the Metropolitan Opers - Coloratura - Mezzo Soprano. The Kans City Philharmonic Orchestra performed under the direction of Hans Schwieger. The even took place in the Municipal Auditorium Arena October 31 and November 1 of 1952. There are large photo portraits of Liberace, Tourel, and a smaller one of Schwieger and a long view of the orchetra. ( Half-tone in black and white. ) There is information about the music program. The booklet is full of advertisements in images and text for items and brands that were carried at the stores. The cover is a fuzzy grey paper that is more like fabric. There is a musical design and the Katz cat logo on the cover in blue ink. The booklet is 11 3/4" tall x 9" wide. The interior pages are on glossy paper - all in grey, black, and white ink. The Program is in very good condition except for a spinkling of spots on the top of the front cover -possible foxing = brown spots from contact with acidic materials or from the environment) . This is a very well cared for item. No wear, writing, marks, creases. ; 8vo

This is a hardcover book in near fine condition. It is a catalog of musical instruments from 1928 (Catalog number 46) . Tight, bright, crisp, clean. Bright red simulated leather with blind stamped lettering and design, filled with black ink. There are no marks or writing. The end papers and pages are crisp and clean. There is a faint hint of a pencil price erasure and the barest of wear at the front bottom corner and a little loss of the simulated binding over the book board at the rear upper left cover. The pages have a slight yellow-beige tint as selected by the publisher and the ink used throughout is brown. There is a neatly pasted-in notice on Page 7 titled Discount Sheet. It is an offering of a Trade Discount of 50% on all items listed except Ludwig Drums and Ludwig Accessories On Which the Discount is 40%. Well cared for. Gift condition. The company was started about 1893. There are five pages with images and details for four Washburn Guitars - "DeLuxe", "Aristocrat"; Classic"; and "Inspiration". There is an image for each item offered, plus some text, and prices. It book is very neatly arranged and presented. ; 4to; 236 pages

This is a First Edition hardcover book in a dust jacket. The dust jacket has protected the book well. Book: The book is tight , bright, and very clean. The mustard colored cloth covers are crisp and still new looking with a tiny bit of wear at the top and bottom of the spine - mostly a curl inwards at the tips of the spine. The end papers and pages are without marks or writing, however there is some foxing resulting from the glue used in binding. The pages are very clean. An illustraton in color is pasted down on the front cover. Dust Jacket: The white background of the jacket shows some soil speckles. The spine has darkened. There is a half dime size chip at the bottom of the front panel with some close tears near the chip. There is dust jacket chip at the top of the spine and some light edge wear . Each song is accompanied by an oval illustration in color by Rie Cramer. The text of the choruses are included with the music for each chorus - voice and piano. The book is divided Old English Songs and the same in French. English and French languages. An extra folded paper is laid in with the words of four songs in English (the French, Belgian, Italian, and English National Anthems ) . . This is a tall, wide book and will not fit in a flat rate Prority Air envelope. ; Delightful circular pictorial on cover. Illustrations by Cramer for each English and French song classic. ; 4to

This is a First Edition or early edition of this music compilation by William B. Bradbury. The publisher is shown as H. M. Higgins in Chicago which may have closed down at the address provided (117 Randolph St, but restarted by one of the Higgins at a different address in 1860) earlier than the date attributed to the year of publication for this Bradbury work (1861 - Golden Chain) . Bradbury was a composer as well as a businessman - one of his most composition is Jesus Loves Me (at a date after this book) . This book is made of book boards covered in paper. The book has been well used and may have been dropped in water as there is a water line in the upper corners of the pages starting about 99 through the last page - 127. There is also a slight ripple in the paper. Though the binding is tight, there is wear at the top and bottom of the spine which includes a chip of the blue cloth binding at the bottom of the the spine. The paper cover is darkened and worn around the edges. The rear of the cover is also printed with a art rendering of the Bradbury store at 427 Broome St. There is a spot on the bottom corner and some chipping aroung the edges. The paper covering the book boards is worn at the edge of the board on nearly all edges. The page on the rear of the book is repeated on the inside pasted down end paper. The rear pasted down paper promoting Pilgrims' Songs. The first page is missing. There are songs for 3 through 127 and the last page is table of contents by song titles. There are some numbers in pencil on the Table of Contents. There are no other marks or writings. Quite worn in appearance. Still serviceable. Collectible as a first or early edition. (Not in WorldCat by this publisher). ; 8vo; 127 pages

This is a handsome, well cared for collection of music and essays related to the South during the Civil War. It is book form with a pocket for an LP bound in. The book and performance was produced by Goddard Lieberson. The music was performed at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D. C. Bales Conducted. The voices were members of the Cantata Choir of the Lutheran Church of the Reformation. The Narrator during the performance was Rev. Edmund Jennings Lee. Catton and Dowdey wrote essays. The book has been well cared for. The binding is a taupe color cloth with a highly gilded and embosssed title and images surrounding an image of the Confederate flag in red, white, and blue. There is a light bump to the front upper corner and a few spots where the color of the cloth has slightly faded. Very clean and crisp with a straight, clean spine. There are no marks or writing on the clean end pages. There are many illustrations in black and white The two essays follow an Introduction by Lieberson. Catton - , The Confederate Legend . Dowdey - Lee at Appomattox. Bales - The Songs and Their Origins. Short bios of Bales, Catton, Dowdey, and Lee complete the book.. Each section is divided by a glassine, see-through paper - all in crisp condition. The LP (by Columbia) is in a stiff paper pocket. The vinyl appears to be in fine condition - perhaps unplayed? The tip the pocket holding the LP has some discoloring. Gift condition except for the slight corner bump and touch of fading on the cover. 12 1/2" tall x 14 inches wide x 1" thick. A nice production. ; 4to
