Taylor, Deems (Narrator) WALT DISNEY'S FANTASIA (1940 PROGRAM) Cover Page: Walt Disney Presents Fantasia 1940 First Edition Softcover This is the 1940 Program for the movie Fantasia. There is a large black and white photo of Leopold Stokowski with a facsimile signature. Deems Taylor is the narrator - he wrote the text that supports the music, photos of staff at work and visitors, plus some of the the art work. There is a Table of Contents for the music, a large photo of Disney, one page about Bach's Toccata and Fugue; three pages about Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite; two pages about Dukas's Sorcerer's Apprentice; Stravinsky's Rite of Spring; Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony; Ponchielli's Dance of the Hours; Monssorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain; Shubert's Ave Maria; a section on sound with black and white photos explained; two pages on the making of of the film with 8 small photos explained; two pages of miscellaneous photos - explained, and a closing. There are four color images of art by teams of artists - Kay Nielsen was on the team for the last two. The program contains many names of people who worked on the film are printed and some are in the photos. Each page has some kind of drawn art from the film - in black and white or tinted in a soft color. The cover has a white background with a dark green background for the title with Disney characters in color surrounding the title. The rear cover is solid dark green. The book program is light in weight, but large - approximatedly 12 3/4" tall and 9 3/4" wide. This program has a tight binding with a slight loss of color to the rear part of the spine. The binding is stapled. There is a light touch of curling to the two outer corners at the tips of the corners, and a faint rubbing to the color on the rear cover. The interior pages are crisp and clean. Well taken care of. It is in very good (plus) condition if not near fine. This is the 1940 Souvenir Program. The music and art are emphasized. ; 4to; 28 pages
