There are many half tone black and white photos. The last part of the book covers the reports of this annual meeting. There is a bibliography, acknowledgements, and index at the end of the book. There are 336 pages. The Table of Contents covers the various panels to the conference and the participants. The covers are a stiff paper with an illustrated cover. The binding is tight - there is a touch of wear at the bottom of the spine and a minumum of edge wear to the cover. Clean, bright, tight, still crisp. The interior pages are clean and crisp. This is a firmly bound Chapter Two of this Manual that includes instruction s for a commander to move troops in orderly process and as a learning tool for new commanders. There are 8 sections: General, Individual Instruction without arms, Individual with arms, Drill - Squad, Drill - Platoon, Drill - Company, Formation of the Battalion, Formations of the Regiment. The cover is two stiff boards that are a beige with a grey book binding cloth at the spine. The book is bound with metal fasteners. The book is very presentable on the shelf as the cloth at the spine is clean and without wear. The boards have some spotting and darkenting (acidic reaction to contents of the board used to make the book covers) . The interior pages have a glossy finish. They are clean and crisp, but with a light mustiness. The former owner dren blue ink circles around the numbers for the various parts Section - exampe - 2-40, 2-41, etc. The book is iIlustrated with black and white half-tone photos and a diagrams. The metal fasteners have lost their finish. There is a former owner name on the inside of the front cover with a Room number. Sturdy. There are no other marks or writing. ; 8vo; 90 pages

This is a soft cover book with a long title on the cover and a portion of the title on the first page. There is an errata sheet pasted in the reverse side of the cover. The book is profusely illustrated with diagrams, graphs, charts, tables, and formulas. There is a Preface with a date of 1 February 1946. The Table of Contents lists five chapters. The binding is tight, however there is a vertical tear at the bottom of the spine at the rear which is not reinforced. There is a stain at the lower front cover (quarter size) . There is a note in ink at the top of the front corner with initials. There is some soil to the paper covers, but the interior is quite crisp and clean. ; 4to; 312 pages

4 THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH

This is a book size pamphlet of black and whote photographs from WW Ther are 114 pages stapled in a medium brown art paper cover with turquoise type on the cover with the title "The Absolute Truth". There is no title or copyright page, however most of the photos have the words "U. S. Official" printed below the image on the left side. The second image has a printed logo in the upper right corner on the image that says "SIGNAL CORPS USA. The photos are of mostly human remains. Some of the photos include survivors taking care of the bodies. Below each photo are printed words such as Dust to Dust, Aviators' Sacrifice, Our Boys, Shell Shattered. The cover has a closed split at the bottom of the spine fold in the cover - now repaired with archival mateirals from the interior. The price is is low because of a diamond shaped stain that is quite visible on the interior pages and faintly seen on the cover. Dampness may have caused the brown paper to leak a light brown color. The diamond shape if about three inches in height on both sides of the upper staple. At the center of the book - the stain is less than a inch across. There is a former owner name and number on the first blank page in pencil. These photos are startling in part because there is no text (other than words described above) and because they were taken in close-ups. WW 1 is assumed because of the look of uniforms, including nurses, and because the word Argonne is included in one of the captions.. Military photographs. ; 8vo; 32 pages

This is a tall, thin softcover booklet containing a history of Battery B of the 161st Artillery Brigade, 86th or "Blackhawk" Division from Camp Grant, Illinois starting in 1917. The booklet is paper covered in red with a metallic ink title on the cover (The Log 1917-1919) and the 332 B emblem. There is no title page or copyright information. The text is titled The History of Battery B. There is the story of deployment and activities. There are some black and white photographs and a Roster . The booklet has a soft crease running vertically. The binding is solid (stapled) and the covers are clean as are the interior pages. Well cared for except for the crease - not too noticeable. There is a scrape to the cover which as been repaired. ; 4to; 24 pages

This is the 1962 edition of this how-to Drill and Rifle book of instruction s. Though deilcate, the binding is tight and the thin hardcovers are strong, but the blind stamped and ink design, border and title are faded. The hinges are tight. The cream colored pages are a little fragile and evenly discolored. There is a chip and tear to foredge of first page. The end papers are worn, but without marks, writing, or stains. There are nine numbered plates in black and white, mostly line drawings. There are many illustrations within the text as well. The rear contains many charts for measuring and recording performance. None have been filled in. There is some darkegning at the tip edges of the pages. Well cared for. ; 12mo; 80 pages

This is a first edition hardcover book in good condition. The condition would be considered near fine except for two flaws. There is a bump to the front cover bottom edge. The same bump caused a small dent on some bottom edges of the pages and a slight closed tear on about 20 pages. The other flaw is a former owner stamp in colored ink with the owner's name and a 'request' to return the book - it is on the title page below the author's name. In every other way the book has been well cared for. Tight, bright, crisp, clean. There are no other marks and there is no writing. The end papers are black coated paper with no chips or tears. The interior pages are very crisp and appear to be unread. The book has half-tone images of prints related to the author and various ships and scenes. There is a tissue guard over the portrait of the author adjacent to the title page (frontispiece) . The beginning chapters are title "Life in Virginia before the war", "With the Indians and buffalo". "In the Mormon Country", "A Cadet at Annapolis", The British Smith, Elder and Company edition was published in the same year with the D. Appleton and Co. Edition. ; 8vo; 407 pages

18 Farnol, Jeffery GREAT BRITAIN AT WAR
Boston, MA Little Brown And Company 1918 First American Edition Hardcover 
This is a hardcover First American Edition by Little, Brown, and Company. This book comes with ephemera pasted in and hnged. The former owner pasted in short notice of Farnol's death which includes a line drawing. This is on the front pasted down end paper. Some type of acidic paper was laid in the book earlier that left a toned vertical offset shape on both sides of the front end paper. An unsigned bookplate is pasted over the offset. In addition there is a tiny store label for the Book Department of Emery, Bird, Thayer and Co, in Kansas City, MO. A letter is hinged on to the reverse side of the last page in the book. An envelope for the letter is laid in. The free end paper at the rear has a longer obituary for Farnol and the date Aug 10 - 1952 is written below it in pencil. The former owner stamped the book with his name (F. Moresby) , plus the name Tuck-A-Way Cottage, in Kansas City, Kansas. The ink is a light purple. The letter is dated in July of 1916 and is on the letterhead of the Colchester House in Clifton, Bristol. It is addressed to F. F. Morseby c/o of Standard Oil in Kansas City, Kansas. The note paper is small and both sides are used. The writing is not all legible, but there is reference to the war, plus pensions (? ) , some news, and plans. The letter predates the publication of the book. The book has a tight binding and there is no wear except for a worn title on the spine. The covers are in a dark navy cloth . The title on the front cover In bright gilt. The end papers are complete without marks or writing. The interior pages are clean and crisp. The top edges have been tinted and there is a light water spot. The book is dedicated "To All My American Friends'. The book contains essays and articles resulting from an exploration around Britain to learn about and share the impact of war. The title for the British edition is Some War Impressions. ; 8vo; 167 pages
