3 MAP OF C. M. ST. P. & P. RR (RAILROAD - CHICAGO, MILWAUKEE, ST. PAUL & PACIFIC RAILROAD) Lines East of Mobridge So. Dak. 1946

This is a crisp, clean map from 1946 of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad. The sub-title is "Lines East of Mobridge So. Dak. " and "April 1946". The map is about 22" high x 30" wide. The map starts at the western shore of Lake Michigan and Chicago (on the right) and covers the northern parts of Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana (unnamed) going to the left. It includes St. Louis, Kansas City, through Kansas at the bottom of the map which extends as far west as Fort. Morgan in Colorado on the left. There is no color - the map has been printed with black ink on a strong cream colored paper that has a parchment like quality. There are no state borders. The names of the states are in large letters. Major cities are in medium size fonts. The feature of this map is all the small stops on the numerous lines and grids. The font size of these small towns is very small because of the volume. The map title and sub-title is enclosed in a block on the lower left. There is microscopic text on the right that includes the words Rand McNally (the remainder is unreadable) . The map has been folded four times 16 panels. There are no spots, no tears, no marks, no writing, no darkening, no foxing. Well cared for except that the map wasn't folded precisely; it ends up to be slightly crooked when it's folded. The map will be sent folded and packaged carefully in a reinforced box with protective materials. ; .

There are 23 railroad lines listed in the legend. The map includes county lines and names, towns, survey lines, rivers, and connections points shown by stars. Color is used for some of the railroads and all the connection points. There is simple neat line. The title, Map of Iowa, is shown in fancy script with shadow. The reverse side has an alphabetical listing of towns and cities with population according to the last census. There is a detailed list of connection points and railroads. This map was printed by the Kenyon Printing & Mfg Co. In Des Moines. The last copyright date shown is 1909. The map is only in fair condition. There are some (mostly closed) tears in the margin and at fold lines. There is a closed tear in the Wisconsin area of the map. The face of the map is quite clean. There is soil on the reverse where the two horizontal panels that were unprotected have some soil and darkening on the front and back panel and some fold lines. Repeat, the soil and darkening is on the reverse side of the map, not on the face of the map. There are about two creases of the paper in the margin area. The paper that was used is now delicate requiring careful handling and protection.
