This is a large hardcover book / atlas. It contain statistics of the coffee industry in the State of Rio de Janeiro (for 1941? ) . The statistics are shown in an art and graphics style, plus tables. It is a delightful look at the results of the coffee production by municipalities. The cover is a thin book-board covered in paper with a lithographic image of the State in pastel colors showing the ocean and surrounding States. The first page show the sales and distributor locations (US, Argentina, South Africa) . There is a Preface by the President of the National Department of Coffee (shown as the publisher) . There are approximately 78 pages. The first 11 pages show statistics in graphics for the entire State. There maps, simple art images, and a shadow outline of Brazil with the statistics in graphics and and detail in tables. The art images are small drawings in color of plantataions and little scenes of life. Each of the remaining pages that follow show statistics by municipalities. Statistics are shown in simple picture form with tables on the reverse. The graphics in color show the number of growers, coffee bean plants, workers (homens, mulheres, meninos, meninas) , heritage of workers (Brasileiros, Italianos, Portugueses, Espanhois, Turco-Arabes, 'other') , and what possibly translates to Capital Investments. There is a name that appears to be the artist's name on the cover - Ennio Soares? The book is 10" high x 14 inches wide. The spine is linen (no title - the title is on the front cover. ) The cover has wear edge. There are some chips of the paper that cover the book boards. The paper on the edges is missing in a few places.. The corners are slightly bumped and worn through. It appears the book was designed with a modest budget for the binding. However, the binding is tight, there are no loose pages. There is a slight curve to the cover of the front edge of the front cover. The end papers are clean. There are no marks or writing. The interior pages are clean and without wear, however the paper used is starting to discolor (from possible acidic content) . It might also have had a beige tone when printed. The back cover has a logo for Estatistica DNC and a small one for Servico Grafico IBGE. This book will not fit the U. S. Post office flat rate envelope when shipped internationally. Ask for estimate for international shipping. Light weight. ; 4to
