1 Morris, Charles Lester PIONEERING THE HELICOPTER

This is a hardcover book in very good plus condition. It is a second printing. (Blue cloth cover with reverse-embossed title and gilt ink. ) . The author was a chief test pilot for the Skiorsky helicopter from 1941 to 1944 and he wrote in the Preface - "privileged to witness the development": . He includes a list of other pioneers - one is Lindburgh. His words - (they) "comprise the group of intrepid pioneers who dared to take instruction from one who scarcely knew what he essayed to teach". The book is tight, bright, crisp, clean with a touch of wear at the top and bottom of the spine and there is a former owner name neatly typed or stamped to a small piece of paper - it is pasted down on the front end paper. There are no other marks or writing. There is a faint toning to the end papers. The pages and end papers are very clean. No chips or tears. There are some photographs in half tone, plus black and white line drawings within the text. Well cared for. ; 8vo; 161 pages

There is a faint touch of discoloring at the top tip of the flaps of the jacket. The white background is crisp and clean. No chips or tears. There are some charts, graphs, line drawings in black an white. The book is divided into five parts in a chronology for Early Development, Depression Years, World War II, Postwar, Transformation starting in 1903. There is also a bibliography and index. ; 8vo; 276 pages
