New York Harper & Row 1897 First Edition Hardcover
This is the First American Edition by Harper & Row published in 1897. In two volumes with 4 maps and many full page illustrations as well as illustrations within the text. Most of the full page texts are in half-tone, but there are many rich tinted photogravures with tissue overlay. The color illustrations of Nansen's art are subtle and handsome. There is a chip to the fore edge of the first blank of Volume 1. The interior pages are quite clean and still fresh, however the last (approx) forty pages of Volume 2 have a waterline at the very bottom of the edges near the spine.
