1 APRIL (Original Woodcut Print by Gustave Baumann. )

This is a print (not a book) by Gustave Baumann. This woodcut was published in 1912 in conjunction with a book featuring the twelve months of the year accompanied by poems of James Whitcomb Riley. The printed poem is included. This image is of a small house with a fence, a little bridge to the stone steps up to the gate. There is a hint of spring with birds finding their 'house' and trees still a little bare. There is a border design beyond the printed border at the top corners and abbreviated on the bottom corners. The Baumann monogram is on the lower right. The colors are a soft orange, brown, blue, grey. The image with the border is 7 7/8" high and 6 1/4" wide. This print has been matted in archival materials. The print is hinged at the top; it is not glued down. The matboard may be opened to examine the paper of the margins. The dimensions of the paper are 10 3/8" high x 8 1/2" wide. The paper has a touch of foxing on the right and lower edge. The outside matboard dimensions are 14" x 11" which is a standard frame size. (Frame not included) . The matboard was selected to complement/match the tone of the paper. The print will be mailed with ample protective material. ; .
