2 Union Pacific Railroad THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST AND ALASKA
Omaha, NE Union Pacific Railroad 1935 Softcover
This is probably the 1935 edition of this popular book / booklet. There is a number in the corner of the last page that include a '35 and the date on one of the maps is 1935. No other date appears. The place of publication is Omaha, Nebr. , by W. L. Basinger who was the Passenger Traffic Manager for Union Pacific System. There are half-tone images in black and white throughout - some full page and others with the text. Each page has ain art border of scenes that would be typical along the train route - in a greyed ink. There are three full page maps on the last three pages - two of them are in two shads of green in addition to black in. One is of the northwest states; another of Alaska and the route to Alaska; , the third is the full route of the Union Pacific. The cover is a sage green art paper with embossed gilt printing and a small vertical rectangle of a scene of the falls in red, grey, and gilt. There is an embossed gilt logo below the falls. The art and printing was nicely done. The stapled binding is tight. The color of the paper has darkened slightly at the edges of the external cover. There is a short tear at the fore-edge of the front cover, now with a tiny piece of archival tape to prevent further wear. The bottom rear corner has a short tear and crease. There is a faint number 50 written on the front upper corner, probably an old price. There is one small spot. There are no other marks or writing. The pages are quite clean and crisp. Apart for the darkening from the exposure of light on the paper, the book is in very good condition - it was generally well cared for. ; 8vo; 48 pages
