This is the red leatherette book with its box. The box is labeled with the title, the publisher's name, and the words 'Pocket Editions Flexible". The book is in fine condition. There are no indications that it has been read. Tight, bright, crisp, clean. No marks or writing. Gift condition. The title and border of foil gilt is very bright. The box is strong. There are no split corners. There is just a faint hint of wear to the corners, there are no serous flaws. The glassine cover over the book is missing. The book is 5 5/8" tall and 4" wide. Good paper; a good ink impression, and a decent size font. The author served in the Ambulance Corps of the Red Cross during World War !. This book was written in a hospital in Paris where he convalesced from a health problem.; 12mo; 192 pages

This is a first edition hardcover book without a dust jacket. The cover art is signed with a monogram of DD for Decorative Designers. It is a book that is included in a group of now collectible books called American Decorative Books. The time period means that many of the books used an art nouveau styling, as this one does. The covers are maroon colored cloth with a reverse embossed design (blind stamped) and filled with gold and green ink. The spine is titled and lightly decorated. The binding is tight. The covers and the interior are clean, however there is a former owner name and address on the front free end paper in ink. There are no other marks or writing. The top edges are dull, The fore and bottom edges are untrimmed (not evenly cut) and clean. There are eight full page illustrations bound in - the images are quite small and hve been printed light brown ink. They are scenes from the book. Some are quite small. The story is in dialect with terms and sayings as of 1902.; 8vo; 132 pages
