This is a hardcover book in a dust jacket. This is an early edition, but not a first edition. The inside flap of the dust jacket includes the words: Pulihtzer Prize 1953; Winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature 1954. The book has a firm binding, straight corners, clean cover and a clean interior. The light blue cloth covers has Hemingway's name impressed on the front cover. The title on the spine is in a metallic silver. The end papers show discoloring from the reaction of the glue used in the binding. There is a former owner gift note. On the front free end paper. The dust jacket has a narrow chip at the top of the spine and a small triangle chip at the bottom of the front panel. There is some discoloring at the spine and a little weari where the jacket turns over the spine and front edges. The price is clipped. The jacket is pictorial with the fishermans shacks at the edge of the sea. There is a photograph of Hemingway on the back panel. All looks bright in a see-through, removable jacket protector.
