FAME'S TRIBUTE TO CHILDREN Being a Collection of Autograph Sentiments Contributed by Famous Men (Cont) Chicago, IL Hayes And Company 1893 First Edition Hardcover This is a hardcover second edition book in a half vellum parchment and calico cloth cover. It was published for the Benefit of the Children's Home of the World's Columbian Exposition at Chicago in 1893. It is a collection of comments and sentiments of famous men and women written in their handwriting and signed by them, then printed in facsimile in this book - one person to a page. There are 58 tributes in Part 1 including the President (Harrison) , eight of the Supreme Court Justices, the Shah of Persia, many authors - Hardy, Kipling, Jewett, Field, Holmes, Howe, Deland, and P. Tschaikowsky ( bar of music) . There are 84 tributes in Part 2.. The full sub-title wording is: Being a Collection of Autograph Sentiments Contributed by Famous Men and Women for the Volume. Done in Fac -Simile and Published for the Benefit of the Chldren's Home, of the World's Columbian Exposition. Some of the letters and notes have letter heads, some have little drawings or some art - all in black and white. The calico cloth covers have some spotting as does the vellum parchment spine. The title is printed on the cover in gilt. The end papers are clean, as are the pages. The binding is firm. There is some corner bumping and wear. There are no other marks or writing. ; 8vo; 101 pages
