This is a book size pamphlet of black and whote photographs from WW Ther are 114 pages stapled in a medium brown art paper cover with turquoise type on the cover with the title "The Absolute Truth". There is no title or copyright page, however most of the photos have the words "U. S. Official" printed below the image on the left side. The second image has a printed logo in the upper right corner on the image that says "SIGNAL CORPS USA. The photos are of mostly human remains. Some of the photos include survivors taking care of the bodies. Below each photo are printed words such as Dust to Dust, Aviators' Sacrifice, Our Boys, Shell Shattered. The cover has a closed split at the bottom of the spine fold in the cover - now repaired with archival mateirals from the interior. The price is is low because of a diamond shaped stain that is quite visible on the interior pages and faintly seen on the cover. Dampness may have caused the brown paper to leak a light brown color. The diamond shape if about three inches in height on both sides of the upper staple. At the center of the book - the stain is less than a inch across. There is a former owner name and number on the first blank page in pencil. These photos are startling in part because there is no text (other than words described above) and because they were taken in close-ups. WW 1 is assumed because of the look of uniforms, including nurses, and because the word Argonne is included in one of the captions.. Military photographs. ; 8vo; 32 pages

GENERALS AND BATTLE OF THE CIVIL WAR, Bomberger, A W. (Augustus Wight)
11 Bomberger, A W. (Augustus Wight) GENERALS AND BATTLE OF THE CIVIL WAR
Canton, OH Chisholm Bros. 1891 First Edition Hardcover
This is a hardcover book of 28 pages of photos and 20 pages of text. The photos are in a beautiful sepia glossy finish. The text is a non-alphabetical Appendix containing a paragraph or more about the generals and battles. Some of the photos are full page, others contain multiple photos. Some are recognizable - for example, some are photo reproductions of classic portrait paintings. Others are images from the news outlets and books of the times. There is one or two sentences (or a paragraph or list) explaining the image at the bottom of the page. The page count of 48 includes the first and last which are pasted to the inside book covers in place of the usual end papers. The photos are arranged in fold-out accordian style. The text pages open up and down, rather than left and right. Some are loose. , The covers are a dark grey-green cloth with blind-stamped (reverse embossing) filled with gilt. There is a fancy decorative border and title (also in gilt) on the front cover. The contents are in clean and mostly in unworn condition. There are papers inserted between facing photos to keep the photos from sticking to each other. This method has worked, but the buffer sheets are worn because of the fragile paper used. Since the design of the book is fold-outs, there is no typical binding. The book has been handled with care and should last another 100 years if handled with equal care. The value of this book(let) is mostly the striking images as well as the covers and Civil War collector interest. Hard-to-find. ; Oblong 8vo; 48 pages

This is the second printing of this hardcover book with a dust jacket. The copyright date is 1945. This is the 2nd printing. The cover is a dark charcoal with a title on the spine in bright silver metallic ink. The end papers are illustrated with a map in black and white. The interior pages are crisp and clean. The dust jacket has some chips at the top and bottom of the spine, plus a closed tear and small crease at the bottom of the front corner. The jacket has a dark background and the book cloth is dark, therefore the chips are not that noticeable with the new archival see-through, removable mylar jacket protector.
