SIGNED. This is a Signed First Edition hardcover book with a dust jacket and in a slipcase. The book was signed on the half-title page. The covers are a handsome purple and white clothe with silver metallic ink for the title and a cartouche. The book would be fine if not for a few small flaws (smudge, tear, crinkle, spot) at the middle of the book, scattered, between pages 165 and 172. They are possibly caused by the printing and binding of the book. The end papers are perfect, all other pages are fine. Crisp and clean. There no other marks of writing. There is a crinkle and closed tear to the dust jacket at the bottom rear corner and a faint touch of wear at other corners. Price clipped, crisp and clean. Metallic silver background with a metallic trim on a kimono image. Large, thick (374 pages) , tall (11 1/2") book . Profusely illustrated with black and white and quality color photos. There are no other marks or writing. Near gift condition. The photgravure frontispiece has two tiny nicks and a tiny crease at the tip of one corner. The binding is tight, the covers strong and without wear, however there is little spot and some darkening to the top edge. The pages are crisp and clean. There are no marks or writing. The dust jacket shows wear - some closed tears, a little chipping to the corners, a tiny ship on the rear edge of the spine, some soiling to the front panel and spine which has a white background. It is now protected in a new, archival, see-through, and removable mylar cover which makes the book and jacket appear bright and cared for. There is a handsome lithograph of a cigarette box with pewter decoration used as the frontispiece for the book. Handsome hardbound book in very good to near fine condition. Covers in rich green cloth with bright gilt and black filled highly ornate blindstamped design on front cover and spine. Beveled edges. Coated end papers. All edges are bright gilt. The contents are clean and in good condition except for foxing on title page, frontispiece and tissue guard and wherever there are tissue guards. A slight hint of corner wear. Former owner name on title page in old ink. Book is solidly bound, however the rear end paper has split. . Profusely illustrated, most in-text. 237 pages, 2 pages of advertising. Any faults diminished in comparison to the beauty of the book cover and the quality condition of the paper. Protected in see-through, removable acetate jacket. The book has been well cared for. The only faults are a result of the foxing to the end papers with offsetting. This book has very bright gilt The fomer owner name is Scott Henry Perky. There is a Perky by that name who was the only surviving son of Henry Perky, inventor, lawyer, Nebraska Congressman, businessperson and who invented shredded wheat. ; 8vo; 237 pages
