1870 
Steel engraving in fine condition of the Entrance to Pera in Tophana. This is an engraving of the original work by R. Sands. The print was published in 1839 by Fisher, Son & Co out of London and by Quai de E'Ecole out of Paris. The print is black and white with fine lines of engraving and delicate grades of shading. Print depicts a romantic image of a port containing many boats and people arriving while a palace rises in the background in a landscape of rolling hills topped with buildings. Print is neat and clean with no tears or chips and no discoloration. Print measures 8 1/4" x 10 3/4" image measures 6 1/4" x 7 1/4" (including the title: Tophana-Entrance to Pera engraved in fine lettering at the bottom of the image) (height by width) ; 8 1/4" x 10 3/4"

Tight and clean hardback book. Green ribbed cloth with blindstamped border and ornate gilt crest on front cover and blindstamped on the back cover. The spine title is in gilt and also ornate. There is slight wear to the top of the spine and the corners. The binding is very tight. The former owner name , date, and a note is on the front free end paper with an offsetting impression on the pasted down end paper. There is an engraving of London Bridge as a frontispiece. The tissue guard is foxed. (brown spotting) . The pages are quite clean. A travel diary of a 'Traveller and Teacher' on board a Cunard ship and in Europe. H. This is a print (not a book) by Gustave Baumann. This woodcut was published in 1912 in conjunction with a book featuring the twelve months of the year accompanied by poems of James Whitcomb Riley. This is a single woodcut depicting a man seated in a rocker who is supporting his head in his hand, deep in thought or reminences or simply enjoying the warmth of a fireplace. The printed poem is included with the purchase. There is a border design beyond the printed border at the top corners and abbreviated on the bottom corners. The Baumann monogram is on the lower right. The colors are a soft orange, brown, grey. There is a touch of foxing in the margins. The print will be mailed with ample protective material. ; .

This is a 2 volume set of 20th Century Drawings in hardcover with slipcases. Part 1 is 1900-1940; Part 2 is 1940 to the Present (meaning 1964, the year of publication. The books are in near fine condition and the slipcases are in fair to good condition. The bindings are tight, the covers are clean, there are no flaws, there is a possible miniscule shade of darkening to the spines. The interior end papers and pages are crisp and clean. There area bout 6 pages of text in each book and the remainder of the book is full page images of a wide variety of modenr artists - in color and black and white. Media, sizes, and credits are listed. There are short single paragraphs at the rear of the book about the artists, plus a bibliography. Each volume has about 141 pages each. The slipcases are paper covered and show some wear at the edges and corners. There is a faint water mark on one, and each has a circular remnant of shadoe and rough surface from removal of price stickers. The books have been well cared for, the slipcases were not meant to sustain handlings - simply made. Each has a different art image pasted down (by intention of the publishers) .
