Paris Paul Morihien 1949 Third Edition Softcover Poor 
This is a softcover book in Johannet watermarked paper wrappers over paper covers. This book was once exposed to dampness on the lower edges and shows a (matching color tone) water line on the covers and most interior pages. The spine has been restored with matching colored art paper. The book now has a tight binding, strong hinges, otherwise clean covers and pages, and is without marks or writing. The book is illustrated in woodblock line drawings by Cocteau (bright blue ink was used) . This autobiographical work focuses on homosexual aspects of Cocteau's youth. Text in French. One drawing is within the text (3/4 page with text on the verso; there are three additional full page drawings with blank versos) . This is number 197 of a Limited Edition of 475, published by Paul Morihien in 1949.; 8vo

Paris Librairie Dorbon-Aine Hardcover Near Fine with no dust jacket  
Near fine hardback book in a fine Moroccan half leather and marbled paper binding enclosing the original paper covers. Gilt title and quality design flourish on the spine. Marbled end papers - clean. The original wrapper cover is in color and the frontispiece appears to be a facsimile of the etching by Robida- villes views and the Hotel de Ville D'Alost. The top edges are gilt, the fore and bottom edges are untrimmed. There are numerous black and white full page and in-text illustrations. Text in French. The chapter content and a list of the illustrations is in the back of the book. There is a former owner name written at the top of the original paper wrapper. The binding is tight , all of the book is clean and bright. There is a hint of wear to the corners. Limited to and edition of 100 on Hollande Van Gelder paper, however this copy is unnumbered. Nicely bound. Well cared for. ; Tall 8vo

This is a hardcover book that states First Edition (F-A) , without a jacket, most lkely as designed in 1926, the year of publication. The book has a maroon cloth cover with a blind-stamped border and the Harper logo, also blind-stamped. The title on the spine in gilt is dulled. There is a former owner name (Gertrude F. Purdy) in gilt which is dulled and difficult to read from a distance if the book was on a shelf. Otherwise the covers are straight and the binding tight. There are two faint marks - a very faint indent without a break of cloth and a spot with a different sheen than the rest of the cover. There are no other marks or writing. The interior end papers and pages are crisp and clean. All texte and in English. Field was and Americna author who was a friend of King Edward VII and lived mostly in Paris and London. ; 8vo; 297 pages

This is a handsome, interesting presentation on color using the papers produced by Strathmore Paper Company and the theories and examples of Munsell with the graphic arts of T. M. Cleland, an artist of the period known for those who liked his work designing covers for Fortune magazine. The book Is comprised of 27 pages of illustrated text that explains the color dynamics by principle and applications. There are supposed to be 19 charts using Strathmore papers to study the dynamics of mixing and using colors to an advantage. The plates are fold -outs on various colored Strathmore original paper and examples of integrating art with the paper. This book lacks one plate ( page 11) . Each fold out includes a stub with five 'wheels' of color. One of the wheels is missing in Plate 1, four are present. There is also some remnants of pencil lines by a child, plus a paper cut in the margin on Plate 1. . This book has two beautiful color examples designed by Helen Dryden, an art deco period artist. Ther examples were engraved by Rudolph Ruzicka. The covers are paper covered in a neutral color and a cloth spine in maroon. There is wear at the top and bottom of the spine - cloth wear. The corners of the book are scuffed with paper breaking and worn. The fold of the last plate has an extra crease and a tear at the fold line. There are no other marks or writing or missing pieces. End papers are clean except for a piece of paper pasted in with the name of a former owner neatly written on it. ; 4to

This is a very handsome, nicely cared for leather covered hardcover book in near fine condition. This is Volume 44 from 1931 with a portrait of Franklin D. Roosevelt as a frontispiece opposite the title page. The binding is red cloth with red Moroccon leather. The binding is very tight, the leather is in near fine condition, the gilt title and the flourettes are very bright. The end papers are marbled. The condtion of the pages is excellent. The book contains biographical sketches of prominent Americans. There are many photogravure and half-tone portraits and nicely printed armorials in metallic and colored inks. ; 4to; 368 pages
