This is an early printing hardcover book without a dust jacket. The book is bound in a handsome greyish blue. The gilt title on the spine is weak and lightly present. The gilt on the front cover is brighter, easier to read, and just a little rubbed. The copyright page does not have any printings listed. It has the two paragraphs with the disclaimer about 'any real person or event'. The name Ayn Rand is printed below the paragraphs with a date of March 10, 1943. There four type errors present: . Page 9 shown as page o; Page 321/5 spelled refrrd; Page 381/4 - the G in G W is small' Page 480/2 has the spelling Domininque. The book is tight, bright, crisp, clean with no marks or writing except for a tiny line drawn on the top of the text block. There are a few very faint spots on page 22 and a tiny crease on page 699, most likely creased while binding. The covers are very clean and crisp without wear. The top and bottom of the spine ends curve in slightly towards the text block. All the other interior pages are crisp and clean - on lightweight paper. There is a thin design drawn across the top of the text block with light graphite. Well cared for. There is no jacket. ; 8vo; 754 pages

This is the 1928 First Edition hardcover book in a dust jacket. The content is taken from the lectures by the author delivered at the Lowell Institute in 1928. The lectures focus on four individuals: St. Ambrose, St. Jerome, Boethius, St. Augustine (with Dante) and several other chapters bringing it together. Indexed. The book would be near fine if not for a former owner name stamped on the end papers under the dust jacket flaps. Tight, bright, clean in red cloth covers A little foxing on the end papers. No other marks or writing. Fore-edges untrimmed, top edge gilt a little dulled. The dust jacket is a soft paper that has corner wear, a tear, a crease and some smudging. It is now protected in a see-through, removable mylar cover. The former owner name on the book is Herbert Ganter who was the archivist at The College of William and Mary. ; 8vo; 365 pages

This is the 1867 edition of two works bound as one. There are 359 pages for Egypt and Sinai and 355 pages for the Holy land. There are two title and copyright pages. Each has a frontispiece - one is a portrait of Randall, the other a scene - both with tissue cover overlays. Each work is illustrated with reproduced scenes and maps. The cover is leather and marbled boards. The binding is in very good condition - just a touch of corner wear (now polished) . Tight and soundly structured. The end papers are marbled. There is a label in the upper left corner of the pasted down end paper indicating that the book was once sold by Goodspeed (From Great Western Publishing Agency Goodspeed & Co. There is a second label in the center of the front pasted down end paper indicating that the book was once in the collection of Rev. Jewel I. Pickett. All the pages are quite crisp and clean, but with light, occasional foxing. Well cared for. ; 8vo

This is the second edition imited to 250 copies from the small press publisher, The Whittington Press, in Gloucestershire, GB. (It appears to editions were published in 1984 - one of 35 copies (signed and in a box) , another of 250) This small hardcover book has a red tartan cloth cover and a horizontal oval paper label printed in red with the title, author, and publisher name. The end papers are a matching red. The paper is hand moulded in a neutral beige-gray. The book is illustrated in six linocuts by Judithy Verity and printed in red ink (blank on the reverse) . There is a frontispiece of the stove referred to in the title - the AGA - with a sleeping dog in front of it. Each chapter is preceded by an illustration - Soups, Main courses, Puddings, Cakes, Salads. The last page includes this: "250 copies printed in 11-point Bell type on Zerkall Silurian mould-made paper. Thirty copies are hand-colored by the artist. Bound by Smith Settle. Date 1984." This book is unsigned and unnumbered. The book is in fine condition - tight, bright, crisp, clean. There are no marks or writing. The book shows no wear. Well cared for. ; 12mo; 44 pages

This is the first edition hardcover book published in 1910. The book has a tight binding, green cloth cover with a river scene in black and Egyptian stylized flower and rive scene accents in light blue ink. The title in the spine is in gilt and the cloth has darkened. The rear covers has some spots; the front cover is clean. There is a touch of cloth fraying at the very tips of the cornres. The end paper as a bookplate of George Young Hull who is supposed to be connected to the Hull House in Chicago. There is another former owner gift note on the other end paper with a love greeting (dated Dec 16, 1910. . The interior pages are clean and crisp. The book has full page illustrations by F. This is an ex-library hardcover two volume set of this work published in English in 1881. 'Translated from the original Persian transcripts' . "Bibliotheca Indica: A Collection of Oriental Works, published by The Asiatic Society of Bengal. " The binding is firmly bound in a quality library cloth in black with a library title and call numbers in gilt on the spine. The covers are very clean and in good condition. There are librarian notes in pencil and a stamp on the title page of each volume. There is a pin dot puncture with the name of the library on the first few pages. The library name is also stamped on the bottom edge of each volume and there is a library book plate in each. Both volumes are firmly bound. The interior pages are clean, but there are a few pages with light pencil underlining. The font size and ink impression are very good. There are no other marks or writing on the end papers or the pages. The top edges have been brushed. The fore edges are untrimmed and dusty. The bottom edges are stamped. Preface, Memoir of the Author, Author's Preface and Dedication, Contents, Additional Notes and Emendations. Errata, Introduction, content, Appendix. Heavily footnoted.
