Solid, tight book with paper covered boards that show light edge wear at the top and bottomnear the spine - not serious. Some offset on end papers. . There are three different sections of illustrations and photographs, two of them show a slight edge of water exposure, however none of the text does. It would seem the illustrated sections were exposed before the book was assembled. 180 pages of text that is very clean and approx 90 pages of illustrations/photographs. Beautifully covered book with beautiful illustrations. This is a hardcover large book of this Tennyson classic. The brown cloth cover is stamped and filled with pink flowers and green leaves and vine, designed by Bertha Stuart. There is minimal wear apparent to the eye, but the top of the spine has been expertly repaired. The interior is full of full page, half page, and in-text illustrations by Howeard Chandler Christy, nearly all in color. The front end paper has a former owner gift note with a Dec. 25, 1911 date. This is a first edition hardcover book of Romany poetry. The author was born in Southeast Minnesota in 1873 (Houston in Houston County near the Mississippi River) . She grew up as a farm girl and attended the State College in Mankato, MN and was associated with the University of Minnesota (according to a paragraph of biography in a book about women poets in Minnesota (from pre-Territory to now) . | This book of poetry has a handsome binding of marbled papers and linen. The marbling is a subtle mix of light beige, brown, and a pinkish red that has stone grain look. There is a reddish orange title blindstamped in an interesting font. The linen spine/backstrip blends in. The book was published in Minneapolis by The Record Press in 1929. Tight, bright, crisp, clean covers and interior. There is a number written in ink on the front pasted down end paper. There are no other marks or writing. There is just a touch of wear to one corner, now restored. The book has two illustrations by Richard Holzschuh, also from Minnesota. They are done in the art nouveau style in black and white as are the other decorative designs on two other pages. This is the second printing in hardcover with a dust jacket. The book has a tight binding. The covers are clean , however there seems to be a flecking of the silver metallic ink used in a silouette of a biker on the front cover - A few fine flecks are caught in the rich black cloth used for the covers. The covers are clean and corners straight. The pages and end papers are very clean; there are no marks or writing, however there is a narrow corner crease on one page towards the back of the book. The metallic silver silouette of a biker shows a little fading at the book edge. Stated Second Printing. The top edges are tinted a dark charcoal and the front and bottom edges are untrimmed. The dust jacket is in fair condition only. It is unclipped (the original price of $4.95 is present) . There is a half inch triangle chip at the top of the spine along with two closed tears and top edge wear. There is a puncture at the rear panel side of the spine with loss of paper. There is chipping at the bottom of the spine and two other closed tears with edge wear and a crease on the inside flap. The jacket looks more crisp in its archival, see-through, removable mylar cover. The book looks well cared for, the jacket received some rough handling on the shelf or in a box. ; 8vo; 279 pages

This is an ex-library copy of this biolgraphical work of the politicians and office holders in Wisconsin from 1787 to 1896. There are biographical sketches and portraits of those featured. This is a heavy, thick book - the cost of shipping by air should be reviewed before ordering. The binding is strong, covers intact, and the book appears to have been rebound at one time in strong blue library cloth. There is some wear and fraying at the top or the spine. There are some call numbers on the spine, stamping on the bottom edge, a library book plate, pin point punctures spelling out the library name on some beginning pages, and some library numbers on the copyright page. The pages are clean . The tissue guards over the portraits are in good condition. There is some smudging on the end papers, but the interior pages are generally clean. The edges of the book are in gilt. ; Tall 8vo; 452 pages
