This is a softcover book with an art paper cover and a stapled binding. It was published by the Student Publication Board each year in February. This is the Spring 1970 edition - Volumen IV, Number 1. The Editor was William N. Colton III. The black and white illustration on the orange cover is by James Arnosky - an award winning iillustratort/artist known for science and nature - it is a frog in armor holding a helmet and riding a seahorse with other figures hiding in the art. Cover is clean and crisp with a faint hint of some fading. The pages are also clean and crisp. No marks, no writing. Fiction, poetry, graphics, and photography. ; No 1.; 8vo; 42 pages

This print is an original Fortune magazine cover from 1938 with art by Miguel Covarrubias. The main figure is a long dressed woman with a basket of fruit on her head in front of what appears to be a petroleum tank that is part of a refinery. There are village huts and tropical trees. It is matted in a complimentary blue. Archival materials have been used and will be mailed with the mat board, an archival backing separator, foam core and wrapped in acetate. The print is hinged (it is not glued down) . The image size is 13 1/2" high x 10 3/4" wide. The outside dimension is 20 x 16" - and the entire item will fit into a standard 20 x 16" frame, minus the acetate. This item will be mailed flat in protective packaging. Postage for prints and maps may cost a little more than the rate for a book. ; -

There are photos in black and white and some diagrams and lay-outs. The periodical is in very good condition. A tight binding, no creases on the spine, but there is a faint touch of darkening. The covers and interior are clean, except for two light spots on the front cover. There are no marks or writing. Well cared for, in general. There is an ISSN number of 0146-3411.; No 3; 4to; 94 pages

This is a small, handsome map of Alaska published in 1900 as part of The Louisiana Purchase and A Review of Annexation by the United States under the Commissioner Binger Hermann. The map is in a light red and blue green. The red outlines three Land Districts: Sitka, Circle, Yukon. It shows ship routes areas and Reported gold discoveries, Coal deposits, Copper deposits, Land offices, Capital / Surveyor General's Office, Routes to interior, and Proposed railroads. The shorelines are shown in a blue green. A portion of Siberia, the Bering Sea, Arctic Ocean, and Canada is included in the image. It is 9" high x 14" wide. There are three fold marks. Fresh, crisp, clean. No tears, no chips, no discoloring, no soil. There is a stub on the reverse where the map was bound into the publication - not visible on the face side. The reverse is blank. Nice mechanical lithograph, neatly executed. ; .

231 MAP OF C. M. ST. P. & P. RR (RAILROAD - CHICAGO, MILWAUKEE, ST. PAUL & PACIFIC RAILROAD) Lines East of Mobridge So. Dak. 1946

This is a crisp, clean map from 1946 of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad. The sub-title is "Lines East of Mobridge So. Dak. " and "April 1946". The map is about 22" high x 30" wide. The map starts at the western shore of Lake Michigan and Chicago (on the right) and covers the northern parts of Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana (unnamed) going to the left. It includes St. Louis, Kansas City, through Kansas at the bottom of the map which extends as far west as Fort. Morgan in Colorado on the left. There is no color - the map has been printed with black ink on a strong cream colored paper that has a parchment like quality. There are no state borders. The names of the states are in large letters. Major cities are in medium size fonts. The feature of this map is all the small stops on the numerous lines and grids. The font size of these small towns is very small because of the volume. The map title and sub-title is enclosed in a block on the lower left. There is microscopic text on the right that includes the words Rand McNally (the remainder is unreadable) . The map has been folded four times 16 panels. There are no spots, no tears, no marks, no writing, no darkening, no foxing. Well cared for except that the map wasn't folded precisely; it ends up to be slightly crooked when it's folded. The map will be sent folded and packaged carefully in a reinforced box with protective materials. ; .

This is a 1909 Railroad Map of Iowa in delicate condition. It is a large map with many fold lines. Map is approximately 31 1/2" high x 44" wide. There are 36 panels with all but four being approximately 8 3/4" high x 5 1/2" wide - the four panels on the right hand side of the map are only 3+" wide. There is a full margin of 1" to 1 5/8". There are 23 railroad lines listed in the legend. The map includes county lines and names, towns, survey lines, rivers, and connections points shown by stars. Color is used for some of the railroads and all the connection points. There is simple neat line. The title, Map of Iowa, is shown in fancy script with shadow. The reverse side has an alphabetical listing of towns and cities with population according to the last census. There is a detailed list of connection points and railroads. This map was printed by the Kenyon Printing & Mfg Co. In Des Moines. The last copyright date shown is 1909. The map is only in fair condition. There are some (mostly closed) tears in the margin and at fold lines. There is a closed tear in the Wisconsin area of the map. The face of the map is quite clean. There is soil on the reverse where the two horizontal panels that were unprotected have some soil and darkening on the front and back panel and some fold lines. Repeat, the soil and darkening is on the reverse side of the map, not on the face of the map. There are about two creases of the paper in the margin area. The paper that was used is now delicate requiring careful handling and protection. The map sill be mailed in its natural folded state - and soundly packaged using protective materials and a sturdy reinforced box. ; ,

This is a small, handsome map of the Hawaiian Islands published in 1900 as part of The Louisiana Purchase and A Review of Annexation by the United States under Commissioner Binger Hermann. The map was compiled and drawn by E. P. Hough. It is in black and blue green. The names of the islands include square miles and some of the islands indicate peaks with altitude. Simple lines extend to and from Honolulu trans ocean destinations/origins with statute miles. The map Is 8 1/4" high x 14" wide. There are three fold marks. Fresh, crisp, clean. No tears, no chips, no discoloring, no soil. There is a stub on the reverse where the map was bound into the publication - not visible on the face side. The reverse is blank. Nice mechanical lithograph, neatly executed. ; .

Union Pacific System 1921 Hardcover 
Map of the Rocky Mountain Parks covered by the Union Pacific RR in 1921. It was printed by the Poole Bros. In Chicago. The railroad lines are shown in red . The parks are marked in red and blue ink. There is faintly printed topography and names. The map includes rivers, towns, passes, ridges, rail forks, trails, highways, lakes, forests, and some altitudes. There is a Union Pacific logo in red and blue in the lower left corner and a small inset showing the east-west route system. The map is quite clean and crisp, but with fold marks. It is 31" high x 24" wide with a simple border in blue ink. There is a small margin - about 3/8". There is a chip from the margin about 1" long and 1/4" in depth. That chip also has a closed tear that extends into the map about 3/4" and has been mended with Japanese fine paper. There is also a closed tear at the fold line towards the top of map in the center. Also repaired. Both repair papers were applied to the reverse side of the map which is blank. There is faint soil at one of the fold marks - on the reverse side of the map. The face of the map is clean. The map will be shipped folded and protected in a reinforced box with plentiful cusioning. ; .

235 MAPS OF THE FORTS AND HARBOURS ON THE WEST COAST OF SCOTLAND Six Small Diagrams - Maps

This is a small map with six diagram-maps of Ayr, Loch Ryan, Kirkcudbright, Port Patrick, Dumfries, and Annan. Circa 1850. The six little maps are delicately drawn and tinted in a neutral and light blue. The maps were printed as a vignette on a single piece of paper by A. Fullerton & Co of London. G. H. Swanston was the engraver. The map is titled at the top as above and "No. 11" is printed in the right corner. The paper is a quality beige with a hint of toning at the very edges. Clean , crisp, with one small spot that shows mostly on the reverse side. Single map - 9" tall x 5 1/2" wide, plus a small border. Each of the six little maps are about 3" tall and 2 /1/2" wide. ; .

This is the ninth edition (1892) hardcover ex-library book with full library markings. There are four city plans and only two (out of four) maps according to the Table of Contents. The City Plans are: St. John, Halifax, Quebec, Montreal and the two Maps are: The Basin of Minas and the Old Acadian Land - and - Map of the Saguenay River. All the plans and maps are fold outs of at least three panels. The book is not pretty, but will come with an art paper cover that will allow the book to look good on the shelf. The binding is tight and the pages are clean. The cover is red cloth with a leather grain simulation. The spine is darkened and not quite readable, there are faint library call numbers and a painted dot of yellow and a chip at the top of the spine. There is some darkening around the edges of the ront and back cover and some corner wear.. There Is a title in gilt on the front cover - "Sweeter's Maritime Pronvinces". There is a library pocket pasted down on the inside end paper with a check in/out card which has been stamped several times. The end paper was an advertisement, now covered. There is a blank piece of paper pasted down on the front free end paper (also an advertisement) . There are several pages of interesting advertising at the front and rear of the book - mostly for companies and businesses in Massachusetts. The library name is perforated in pin like dots on some of the front pages. The library name is stamped on all edges. The top edge is darkened. One of the folds in Halifax mas has been repaired with Japanese archival rice-tissue paper. Reading copy, but with an art paper cover for appearance. There are 336 pages including a detailed Index, plus advertising. ; 8vo

240 MAY (Original Woodcut Print by Gustave Baumann. )

This is a print (not a book) by Gustave Baumann. This woodcut was published in 1912 in conjunction with a book featuring the twelve months of the year accompanied by poems of James Whitcomb Riley. This is the single woodcut depicting three children playing in a creek surrounded by hills and trees, and the rocky surface of the creek. The printed poem is included with the purchase. There is a border design beyond the printed border at the top corners and abbreviated on the bottom corners. The Baumann monogram is on the lower right. The colors are a soft orange, brown, grey, blue. There is a touch of foxing in the margins. The print will be mailed with ample protective material. ; .
