This is a portfolio of removable images of Dine paintings held in a pocket of the portfolio. There is a also fold-out for text equivalent to about three pages written by Carter Ratcliff. There are serveral horizontal paintings, one as long as 204 inches, therefore the images of the paintings have been folded to fit and can be opened to display each. Some paintings fit single pages. There are images for ten paintings. The portfolio is a simple white glossy cardstock with an image of one of the paintings on the front panel. The contents are on the same stock. This item has been well cared for. Clean, crisp, without wear or marks except for a slight slant to the unsupported spine that contains the Dine and Gallery names. Tall, wide, and light weight. 11 x 9 x 1/2". May require extra postage because of the size if shipped internationally. ; 8vo

This is a soft cover book with a long title on the cover and a portion of the title on the first page. There is an errata sheet pasted in the reverse side of the cover. The book is profusely illustrated with diagrams, graphs, charts, tables, and formulas. There is a Preface with a date of 1 February 1946. The Table of Contents lists five chapters. The binding is tight, however there is a vertical tear at the bottom of the spine at the rear which is not reinforced. There is a stain at the lower front cover (quarter size) . There is a note in ink at the top of the front corner with initials. There is some soil to the paper covers, but the interior is quite crisp and clean. ; 4to; 312 pages

This is a hardcover/flexible book in a dust jacket that would be considered in very good plus and near fine condition if not for a former owner name on the end paper and a French name in ink on the title page. The binding is tight, the book looks crisp and it is clean. There is a little fading of the gilt on the cover and two possible tape marks on the inside of the dust jacket. The dust jacket is fresh and clean. There is a faint touch of some edge wear in places. Not clipped. There are two ribbon markers to hold a place in the book - in new condition. There are 1049 pages and there no other marks or writing. Well cared for. The book covers many places in France with detail and small maps set with in the text. The end papers have maps. There is a lengthy and detaile d alphabetical index. In French. This book is heavy and thick and could require a little extra postage if shipped internationaly. ; 8vo; 1049 pages

This is a used map from approximately 1965. (1965 appears in the legend) . The publisher/printer name may be Natisnila Tiskarna CZP .. Ljudska Pravica" V Ljubljani. , There is a Telex number of 03 -102 provided should there be an urgent message released to auto club members who have rented an auto. Radiotelevizija Ljubljana is the key contact for the auto news. There is a stiff cover for the map - the map folds up inside the cover. The cover is a glossy art design on the front and a sketch of boundaries in colors on the reverse..Th e word Izdala precedes the Auto-Moto Zveza Slovenije v Ljubljani. The map has 7 vertical folds and two horizontal folds creating 24 panels. The view of the country is excellent. The font size is ample. There is a legend in six languages (including English) and with symbols. There are six insets show the main thoroughfares for traffic for Ljubljana, Zagreb, Beograd, Sarajevo, Skopje, and Titograd. The background color for the map is a soft green, with red, yellow, blue, green lines. There is an art assist for showing topography and water. The height is 27 1/2", The width is 28 1/2" . There is a break in the paper at the fold corners, but no chips. The map looks fresh otherwise. There are no marks or writinge. The cover shows a little wear to the corners. But because of the glossy paper and little faults, the map looks whole and somewhat new looking, but is now 45 years old. The map is blank on the reverse. ; .

This is a book and map atlas published in 1930 and written in Italian covering the area of Venezia Guilia Croazia - Slovenia (Venice and the northwest corner of Italy and across the border into Croatia - Slovenia including Zagreb - the northwest area of what was once called Yugoslavia. ) This is a book with a flexible cover made of heavy weight grey art paper backed with fabric for strength. There are 142 pages of text in Italian and with 9 of 10 maps with two pasted down maps at the front and rear on the interior of the covers. Map 3 is missing except for one panel . Those present are 1 and 2, plus 4 though 10. The book appears to be published by the Ministero della Guerra which is printed on the title pages which is on the cover of the book. The rear of the book includes another map on the rear panel showing three geographica areas within the area described above and titled "Teatro di operazioni Italo-Jugoslavo". The areas shown in the map are numbered 5, 6, 7. This is Monografia Geografica N. 6 for Venezia Giulia Croazia-Slovenia and specifically the Linea di Operazioni Fiume - Zagabria. In the upper right hand corner of the front cover 'Copia No and a line are printed in the corner and the number '4' is stamped on the line. There is another stamp showing "Pubblicazione No 341R". It also states Capitolo 26 in due (2) volumi. This is Volume 1. The text covers the terrain and features with quite a lot of detail, including pronounciation and much more in an Appendix.. The binding is strong, but delicate in that the block of text and maps weighs about one pound and it is sewn to the cover, without glue. The top and bottom of the spine shows wear with some chipping. There is a small label with a border that has the number 10 written on it in red pencil. There is some rice paper reinforcement of the extremes of the spine in a blending tone to match the grey of the covers. The front cover has some smudges. The interior pages of text in Italian are clean and crisp except for some short vertical lines in pencil in the margin next to specific lines. There is a small oval stamp on the first page, plus some alpha and numeric characters in pencil in the margin. There are two small stamps at the rear of the book which says 'Withdrawn' in English. There are no other marks or writing. The maps are on strong paper with several fold marks. The first map is the largest at approximately 24 x 24 inches with black ink and a beige-buff shading to certain areas. The other maps are a little smaller with red and blue lines to marks roads or pass through, plus some solid coloring. .. The maps are in very good condition - there is a touch of darkening at the edges that doesn't affect the face of the map. There is a short closed tear at the hinge of the map stub which has been reinforced from the rear with archival Japanese paper. The book is about 8 ¼" tall, 5 " wide, and 1" thick. Number 6, in Italian, 9 out of 10 fold-out maps, plus three other small maps on the end papers and the rear cover. This book is not commonly listed on the internet. Fiume / Rijeka; 8vo

This is Volume 1 (Number 1 through 12) of the St. Louis, MO. Newspaper Pythian Advocate starting May 1880 and continuting monthly through April, 1881, bound in book covers. This is a publication of The Order of Knights of Pythias. Each edition has about 7 to 11 pages of articles, news, tips, reports, business, essays and one page of advertising of businesses in St. Louis. This is an ex-library copy - there is only a small stamp and a call number in pencil on the first page of Volume 1 - in the corner. Library markings on the spine have been blacked out. There is a library book label on the front pasted down end paper to indicate that the book belonged in the Reference Room. There is tape at the inside hinge and smudging on the end papers. The interior pages are very clean and crisp. The covers are marbled paper with a leather spine. Leather on the corners has mostly disappeared exposing the book boards. The marbled covers have worn off on the edges and there is missing color and paper in places, especially on the rear cover. There is a leather label in the center of the front cover with the title in gilt and with a border which is wearing. The pages are crisp and clean except for the last page which as a chip and old tape, not yellowed. The rear free end paper is missing and there is more tape at the hinge. There is a missing cut-out from Number 12 that is about 2 x 3 inches. It is next to the advertising from the previous month which has an ad for Brownings' Oyster House (restaurant) at 510 Chestnut St. In St. Louis. The first choice is Baltimore Oysters, any style, per doz. , 25 cents. The Knights of Pythias is a fraternal organization established in the U. S. In 1864. There are references to the need to expand to the west and south within the articles. ; 4to

This is a small softcover Directory for the Village of West Milwaukee. It is the first edition of the 1929 directory. It contains names and addresses for residents and businesses in alphabetical order and then in street order. The book also contains the names of the Village Officials, the School Board and the Teachers, Church and Parochial School (looks like only one - St. Florian's Church) . There are many advertisements. Most are in text, some have a photo or logo. For example, Elliott's Express includes a photo of an old style version of a large pick up truck with a canvas top. There are simple logos for Anchor State Bank, Plaum Clothing Co. , Brynelsen-Edwardsen Autos (with a Nash logo) , Schneider Brother Printing Co. One ad offers repairs for silk stockings - "If your Silk Stockings have runs, don't throw them away, I'll make them look like NEW. Runs Relatched Very Reasonable. Mrs. N. R. Flintrop" The cover is a soft grey with a tasteful decorative design near the spine. The binding is staples. The first page has a clipped edge. This is a single etching in near fine condition by a German-American artist, Ignaz Marcel Gaugengigl (1855 - 1932) . The image is of a seated lady in turn-of-the-century attire, her face is in profile as she looks at something outside the frame of the image while putting on or taking off a glove. This piece has the loose, free character of a sketch while depicting the etchers ability to catch slightly windblown hair, and lace with soft folds of fabric. The Image is 7" height x 4 1/2" width. The outside dimensions of paper are 12 1/8" H x 9" W. This etching is from the American Art Review by Koehler. Clean and crisp - no marks or wear. Signed on the plate in the upper left corner. ; .

The months for these six magazines are April 1944, Vol XVIII, Number 3; September, 1944 Volume XVIII, Number 7; October 1944 Volume XVIII, Number 8; November 1944. Volume XVIII, Number 9; January 1945, Volume XXII, Number 1; June 1946, Volume 21, Number 6. The cover of the first is the new Simon Bolivar Plaza, others are the Aliso Viaduct Edition, 1944 War Chest, City Hall? . It is possible to see the changes in the art of the cover with these six issues. The area coverage stated on the two first issues are "Valley West Los Angeles, Hollywood, Central, Harbor . Full of news, articles, photographs, lists, announcements, war news, personnel, advertisements. Price is for six issues. Tight and clean, but printed on war paper - with wood pulp, paper has darkened. No marks or writing, however, the top part of the back cover has been removed - the mailing label has been torn off. Otherwise, very good condition. No tears, no smudges, one has a little creasing at the bottom front corner, plus a few pages. ; 4to

The blank is back excpt for the name of the Director, H. M. Nornabell and the 25 cent price. Five photographers are listed on the inside of the cover - Morse, Rittase, Geisler, Can Natta, Alexander. There is a 1946 copyright by The American Foundation Incorporated. The first page includes words about the Tower and Sanctuary being dedicated by Clavin Coolidge in 1929. There is a foreword by Edward W. Bok and an adjacent portrait printed in sepia ink. In termingled with the text are phtographs of the locale, carillon, organ, architectural detail, organ, flamingo, fountains.. There is a beautiful double spread of the Tower and trees in color at the center of the booklet. The front cover has a soft crease at the lower corner. There is a shading to the front cover from sun exposure. Clean. The interior is crisp and clean. A nice keepsake on art paper with a matte finish. ; Small 4to; 26 pages

The Blossom Songs date from (no later than) 906 AD and the Sword Songs are more recent. The cover and interior are all art work from the calligraphy to the woodblacks in soft colors. The cover design is what appears to be leaf shapes falling down on or lfloating on water. Each poem has original art. The work was translated by Shotaro Kimura and Charlotte M. A. Peake. This is a magazine about hort wave radio - Volume 1, Number 3, October-Nove mber of 1930 - it is the third issue of this magazine which was started in 1930. Hugo Gernsback, Editor and H. Winfield Secor as Managing Editor. They used sequential paging - this issue covers pages 179 through 256. It is on an inexpensive paper, but the interior is in good condition and it is profusely illustrated with photos and diagrams. Featured authors mentioned on the Table of Contents page include an Ardenne, Hertzberg, Hatry, Dr. Fuchs, Tanner, Randon. The articles are divided into Featured, Short Waves for the Broadcast Listener, Short Wave Receivers, Short Wave Transmitters, Television and Pitcure Transmission, Miscellaneous. The interior is in very good condition. There is a faint former owner name in the margin of the first page. No marks or writing. The cover is present. There is some overall smudging - mostly on the back cover which has a white background. There is a little wear to the corners and there is a little paper missing from the spine - now restored with a matching shade of off white paper. The binding is tight. This is a softcover book published by the Blackfriars at the University of Chicago in 1922. The production of Anybody's Girl was Eighteenth Annual College Comic Opera for that year. It was held at Mandel Hall on May 5, 5, 12, 13. This was a student production. The Blackfriars was named after the theatre in London and there are two pages about the theatre written by Charles Breasted in 1920. There is a list off all members since 1904 and there is another page devoted to the staff of 1922 with five photos and a list of names. There is a group photo and list of names for the Brothers of the Order, a bio of the Producer, Hamilton Coleman and a short briefing on the play. There are two pages with an index of songs and a photo and list of the Orchestra, Cast, and Chorus. The music and lyrics start on page 17. The cover appears to be a woodblock print in black, white, and shades of orange. A name appears on the cover - it is most likely the artist - Rudolph Samuels. The book has a tight binding and the interior pages are all clean with no marks or writing. The cover has a former owner name in ink at the top of the front upper margin and is repeated on the rear cover in pencil including the name of the residence hall at the U. There is smudging on the rear which is white. The front cover has some very faint pencil writing on the left and right margin. There is a little spotting in the margin and light wear to the corners. This is a book size pamphlet of black and whote photographs from WW Ther are 114 pages stapled in a medium brown art paper cover with turquoise type on the cover with the title "The Absolute Truth". There is no title or copyright page, however most of the photos have the words "U. S. Official" printed below the image on the left side. The second image has a printed logo in the upper right corner on the image that says "SIGNAL CORPS USA. The photos are of mostly human remains. Some of the photos include survivors taking care of the bodies. Below each photo are printed words such as Dust to Dust, Aviators' Sacrifice, Our Boys, Shell Shattered. The cover has a closed split at the bottom of the spine fold in the cover - now repaired with archival mateirals from the interior. The price is is low because of a diamond shaped stain that is quite visible on the interior pages and faintly seen on the cover. Dampness may have caused the brown paper to leak a light brown color. The diamond shape if about three inches in height on both sides of the upper staple. At the center of the book - the stain is less than a inch across. There is a former owner name and number on the first blank page in pencil. These photos are startling in part because there is no text (other than words described above) and because they were taken in close-ups. This is an etching in near fine condition of "A Sketch-North River", by Reginald Cleveland Coxe. The image depicts a lone tugboat with a trail of steam against a cloudy or foggy background including a vague coastline beyond the ship. The etching is of fine quality with intricate linework. The print is neat and exceptionally clean with a strong plate mark. The antique white woven paper has no tears or chips. The print is hinged on a piece of archival matboard and matted with an opening using archival, quality matboard which can be used for framing. (Frame not included. ) The image size is approximately 3 3/4" in height and 6" wide. The plate mark is approximately 1/4" out from the image. This September issue of The Cosmopolitan Magazine issue of September 1893 contains the first appearance of a very short story by Mark Twain - "Is He Living or is He Dead?". It also contains a long article on the 1893 Columbian Exposition headlined as "A World's Fair Number" One of the articles about the Exposition was written by former President Harrison and another by Walter Bessant. The Twain story was later expanded to become a stage play. The September issue covers pages 514 through 640. There are many more pages of advertsing. The covers for the magazine are paper. This is a single issue. The entire issue is profusely illustrated with black and white half tone photographs. The illustrator for the Twain short story is Alice Barber Stephens. There is another article by W. D. Howells - A traveller from Altruria. Though the interior pages are crisp and clean , this magazine has many little spots on both the front and rear covers. - . As Volume II, Number 1 of this short lived periodical, the pages start with 1. There are 72 pages that are untrimmed - the binding is stapled in signatures/gatherings that are uncut. The condition is good - the paper cover in a grey shade with decoration and shows that some thought was given to font design. The soft paper covers have some spotting and a scuffed fold for the spine - a chip in the upper right corner (about 1/4" in from the corner) , some creasing at the bottom corner, plus a small chip and two short closed tears on the rear cover. The interior pages are in very good condition except for a little dis-coloration at the untrimmed fore edges. There are no marks or writing. There are many article titles and authors in the Contents on the front corner. The titles of the articles that show up in the uncut version are: Aspect of the Labor Question by J. G. This is a program souvenir for the inauguration of the store after reconstruction in 1924. There are seven full page illustrations by the artist Drian in black and white and a preface and tribute - comments by Laguionie & Cie. , H. Gordon Selfridge, M. Jean-Louis Audoyer, and M. P. Vanginot. The illustrations are back to back with the text. There is a double spread in the center with a wide view of the exterior of this striking architectural building. The other illustrations are of very stylish shoppers and employees and one is a view of two woman on the terrace with the cupola in the background. The pages are bound portfolio style and enclosed in a faux leather cover made from heavy paper smoothed to provide gloss and then embossed to represent a faux tooled design.. There are three shapes in green and black ink - a border band which surrounds a diamond shape band which then surrounds a circular design. The back ground color is a yellow beige. Nearly all the surface is covered to replicate a leather tooled binding. The pages are all crisp and clean, however there is a remnant of a rust stain on the first two pages at the top right corner that has the shape of a round paper clip. There may have been business cards secured to the top edges. The faux leather cover for the portfolio has visible wear at the top and bottom of the spine. The card stock backing board is exposed, i. The condition is good - a new paper spine that matches/compliments the tan/brown of the paper over boards cover has been professionally added. The paper on the covers show a little wear to the paper surface and there is a short closed tear of the paper on the front (fore) edge that is not too noticeable.. The front end papers have a few small faint spots and there is a hint of a price erasure, plus a closed tear that is not very noticeable. There are no other marks or writing. This is a First Edition hardcover book of the first Smokey Stover books - Fire Fighter of Foo. The book boards (covers) are paper covered and the spine is paper simulated to look like cloth (and in charcoal black) . The original price of 5 cents is in the lower left corner. The number 1010 is on the right. Holman started the Smokey cartoon character strips to run on Sundays for the Chicago Trubune in March of 1937. It went to a daily strip in 1938. This book, the first in the series, was published in 1935. Foo is one of the words he created. The cover is illustrated with a drawing in color of Smokey looking behind him and signalling for the others to follow him. The back cover is a dark green-black. The paper is fragile (not acid free) . There is a title page. It appears that there are supposed to be 9 pages at the rear titled "CUT-UPS FOR GROWN-UPS" Holman invites the owner of the book to do crazy little things some based on the characters in the strip. They are printed on both sides of the page. This former owner took him up on it and did cut some. Two pages being complete. , Two are missing one quarter of the page. One page was torn out and the remnants of that page are present. All the 56 pages of the black and white cartoons are present. The pages in the interior are all in near fine condition (except as satted, the cut-outs which are unrealted to the comic strips on the other pages) The end papers are clean with no marks or writing, but the fragile paper split at the interior hinges, both front and back - it was brittle and inflexible. The binding is in excellent condition. The binding is tight and sturdy. The white background of the front cover is very clean. There is a touch of wear at the corners. All in all, this book must not have been read that many times or passed around. It may have only had one owner. ; 8vo

This is a handsome, interesting presentation on color using the papers produced by Strathmore Paper Company and the theories and examples of Munsell with the graphic arts of T. M. Cleland, an artist of the period known for those who liked his work designing covers for Fortune magazine. The book Is comprised of 27 pages of illustrated text that explains the color dynamics by principle and applications. There are supposed to be 19 charts using Strathmore papers to study the dynamics of mixing and using colors to an advantage. The plates are fold -outs on various colored Strathmore original paper and examples of integrating art with the paper. This book lacks one plate ( page 11) . Each fold out includes a stub with five 'wheels' of color. One of the wheels is missing in Plate 1, four are present. There is also some remnants of pencil lines by a child, plus a paper cut in the margin on Plate 1. . This book has two beautiful color examples designed by Helen Dryden, an art deco period artist. Ther examples were engraved by Rudolph Ruzicka. The covers are paper covered in a neutral color and a cloth spine in maroon. There is wear at the top and bottom of the spine - cloth wear. The corners of the book are scuffed with paper breaking and worn. The fold of the last plate has an extra crease and a tear at the fold line. There are no other marks or writing or missing pieces. This is a softcover book in near fine contion with a CD that is still sealed. The binding is tight and uncreased with no signs of being read. Crisp, clean. There is only the slightest hint of a curl to the corner - upper front. No marks, no writing, no underlining. Well cared for. Most likely unread. Black and white illustrations, diagrams, charts. The prints are mounted (tipped in) on pastel and neutral art paper on one side only. They are slipped in, not bound in, to each booklet. Each booklet contains additional tipped in prints. Text is in English. A title page is inserted at the front of the book and a table of contents in the rear. All plates are present. The cover has some foxing (light brown spots caused by an acidic reaction to impurites in the paper or the environment) and very light smudges around the corners and hinges. The orginal protective glassine cover is still present, though there are several tears with pieces missing. There is a little design and title on the cover in black ink as well as a title on the spine. There is a former owner name on the front pasted down end paper. There is a very light touch of some soil on the bottom edge, in a few places. Clean throughout with crisp pages. The dust jacket is a bright yellow with a drawing of a child leaning in an upper window of a portion of a house waving to a child in a sand box with clothes on the line in the background. There is some wear to the jacket - a tear to the bottom edge of the rear panel, some chipping on the corners, some smudges and a little stain. The original price is present . This is the map volume from this work by Alison. There are 108 maps of battles and a frontispiece labeled Military Signs and of Modern Fortification. It is a visual tool for reading the maps pertaining to the battles. . This is the 1852 edition. All the maps are firmly bound to a backing paper. The covers and spine are off - there are four parts: two covers, one spine, and one block of maps. The covers and the spine are full leather. The spine is ornately designed with two compartments used for the title and four with a handsome gold filled tooling . Two of the compartments have some missing leather. Could be restored or used for the maps. The maps are quite clean except for map 44 which has some heavy foxing (medium brown staining, probably from acidic paper that was inserted. ) There is occasional very light foxing on some other maps, mostly in the margins. Lithographs on a heavy weight of paper. Symbols of ships, forts, grounds are lightly hand-colored. The end papers are marbled. There is a former engraved bookplate with the name A. F. Cunningham. A later owner's name is written in pencil on the reverse side of the frontispeice. There is an alphabetical cross reference to the maps and an alphabetical glossary. ; 8vo
