This is a softcover book about Federico Garcia Lorca - a bibliography, anthology, his life (overview) , and his popular songs. The book is in Spanish - there are black and white photographs throughout the first half of the book and music for a portion of the book. The book is printed on glazed paper. The cover is a heavy weight art paper. The interior of the book is in near find condition, however the cover has some black marks that appear to have transferred something from an adjacent book - perhaps the look of black tape that might have rubbed against the front cover - it affects the bottom right quadrant of the cover. There is a short closed tear across the spine and into the front cover a little. There is a little discoloration to the cover spine and some edges and there are two scuffs to the edge of the book that extends beyond the edge of the text black. Some pages have not been opened. The Hispanic Institute is at the Casa Hispanice located at Columbia University. The book was printed in Cuba. ; 4to; 151 pages

This is an ex-library 2 volume hardcover first edition. The book is bound in a maroon cloth library binding. The covers are neat, tight, straight, and clean. The titles on the spine are in gilt, including library call numbers. The end papers are clean except for a library label on the pasted down front end paper. The pages are in good condition - crisp, clean, toning on the tips of the edges. There are library pinhole perforations on the front two blank pages and the title page. There is also a three letter stamp on the reverse of the title page and large library stamps on the bottom edges. A former owner's name is written near the top of the title page in brown ink. Volume 2 has a water mark on the first eight pages in a small space near the top of the gutter. There is a little chipping on the fore edge of the blank papers which appear to have been added in the rebinding. The original 1785 paper appears to be without any tears or chipping. Text in English. A very good reading copy from the original edition. ; Vol. 1/2/2008; 8vo

Shyngysta is the birthplace of three famous writers - Abai, Shakarim, Mukhtar Auezov. Beautifully photo illustrated in color. This is a large book, heavy, tall (11 1/2") , wide (10") , and thick with heavy glossy paper. An introduction is in the three languages. Captions under the photos are in the Kazakh language. The Russian and English translations of the captions are at the rear of the book in quite large letters. The emphasis in photos is on the land, views, people, customs, literature, writers and poets, plus libraries and books. The book has a tight binding and is covered in green cloth. Bright and clean. There are no marks or writings by former owners. The dust jacket is equally crisp and clean. Unclipped. There is a touch of edge wear to the jacket corners, but no tears or chips anywhere. Published in Philadelphia with a copyright date of 1840, Though there is a crack on the vertical curve of the upper front cover, the binding is tight - there is a touch of repair/reinforcement. The front interior hinge end paper is separated but firm. The leather is a little scuffed around the edges. The end papers are blank - no writing, no marks, no labels, but there is a little darkening at the edges. The interior pages are crisp and clean, but the tips have darkened some - noticeable when the book is closed. All text; the font is large than usual in small books. ; 12mo; 117 pages

This is a softcover book in Johannet watermarked paper wrappers over paper covers. This book was once exposed to dampness on the lower edges and shows a (matching color tone) water line on the covers and most interior pages. The spine has been restored with matching colored art paper. The book now has a tight binding, strong hinges, otherwise clean covers and pages, and is without marks or writing. The book is illustrated in woodblock line drawings by Cocteau (bright blue ink was used) . This autobiographical work focuses on homosexual aspects of Cocteau's youth. Text in French. One drawing is within the text (3/4 page with text on the verso; there are three additional full page drawings with blank versos) . This is number 197 of a Limited Edition of 475, published by Paul Morihien in 1949.; 8vo

This is a hardcover book that states First Edition (F-A) , without a jacket, most lkely as designed in 1926, the year of publication. The book has a maroon cloth cover with a blind-stamped border and the Harper logo, also blind-stamped. The title on the spine in gilt is dulled. There is a former owner name (Gertrude F. Purdy) in gilt which is dulled and difficult to read from a distance if the book was on a shelf. Otherwise the covers are straight and the binding tight. There are two faint marks - a very faint indent without a break of cloth and a spot with a different sheen than the rest of the cover. There are no other marks or writing. The interior end papers and pages are crisp and clean. All texte and in English. Field was and Americna author who was a friend of King Edward VII and lived mostly in Paris and London. ; 8vo; 297 pages

This is a very handsome, nicely cared for leather covered hardcover book in near fine condition. This is Volume 44 from 1931 with a portrait of Franklin D. Roosevelt as a frontispiece opposite the title page. The binding is red cloth with red Moroccon leather. The binding is very tight, the leather is in near fine condition, the gilt title and the flourettes are very bright. The end papers are marbled. The condtion of the pages is excellent. The book contains biographical sketches of prominent Americans. There are many photogravure and half-tone portraits and nicely printed armorials in metallic and colored inks. ; 4to; 368 pages
