This is a soft cover Centennial Exhibition Catalogue from 1976. The Exhibition of Clara Mair's work took place at the Minnesota Museum of Art in 1976. The etchngs were loaned by the Ben and Abby Grey Foundation. Clara was a Minnesota artist, born in 1878 in Hastings, MN. She studied St. Paul, Philadelphia, Paris. Her work is in many collections. There are approximately 50 works in the catalogue, all in black on the same paper as the covers. There are brief texts and bibliographiuc information. The covers are of soft art paper in a tan color with a fine line border and her first name on the cover in burnt-red ink. The cover is quite clean, however there is a repaird split at the fold line at the top of the spine. There is a slight curve to the and a faint spot on the bottom corners. The interior pages are clean and crisp. Delightful art - most works in this Exhibition seem to come from the 1930's. Delightful art. ; 8vo; 48 pages

It is stated that of the forty-three paintings selected, twenty-nine had never been exhibited in the U. S prior to this exhibition which was the first of four showings - Madison, Minneapolis Newport, Seattle in 1982 and 1983. . Foreword by Carlton Overland, Curator at the Museum. Preface by Alf Boe of the Munch-museet in Oslo. Chronology of Munch with more images of his paintings. Selected Bibliography, Names of the staff at the Elvehjem Museum. The book is tall and wide. It is tightly bound. The covers are bright and clean and in very good tonear fine condition. . There is only a hint of some color loss in places alont the tip of the edges. The interior pages are all crisp and clean. Nor marks or writing. A possible trace of a pencil price mark. Well cared for. ; 4to

The cover is the image of Monument Au Fantome. The inside cover is a sitting portrait. There are two full page images in color (the cover is also in color. All other pages have single and multiple images in black and white on the other pages. There is a chronological list of his Exhibitions and a Checklist with detail. This is a portfolio of removable images of Dine paintings held in a pocket of the portfolio. There is a also fold-out for text equivalent to about three pages written by Carter Ratcliff. There are serveral horizontal paintings, one as long as 204 inches, therefore the images of the paintings have been folded to fit and can be opened to display each. Some paintings fit single pages. There are images for ten paintings. The portfolio is a simple white glossy cardstock with an image of one of the paintings on the front panel. The contents are on the same stock. This item has been well cared for. Clean, crisp, without wear or marks except for a slight slant to the unsupported spine that contains the Dine and Gallery names. Tall, wide, and light weight. 11 x 9 x 1/2". May require extra postage because of the size if shipped internationally. ; 8vo

Paris Nouveaux Magasins Du Printemps 1924 First Edition Flexible covers Illustrated by Drian 
This is a program souvenir for the inauguration of the store after reconstruction in 1924. There are seven full page illustrations by the artist Drian in black and white and a preface and tribute - comments by Laguionie & Cie. , H. Gordon Selfridge, M. Jean-Louis Audoyer, and M. P. Vanginot. The illustrations are back to back with the text. There is a double spread in the center with a wide view of the exterior of this striking architectural building. The other illustrations are of very stylish shoppers and employees and one is a view of two woman on the terrace with the cupola in the background. The pages are bound portfolio style and enclosed in a faux leather cover made from heavy paper smoothed to provide gloss and then embossed to represent a faux tooled design.. There are three shapes in green and black ink - a border band which surrounds a diamond shape band which then surrounds a circular design. The back ground color is a yellow beige. Nearly all the surface is covered to replicate a leather tooled binding. The pages are all crisp and clean, however there is a remnant of a rust stain on the first two pages at the top right corner that has the shape of a round paper clip. There may have been business cards secured to the top edges. The faux leather cover for the portfolio has visible wear at the top and bottom of the spine. The card stock backing board is exposed, i. E. , the corners are missing. . The front corners and edges have a touch of wear. The covers are clean. There are no marks or writing on the pages or the portfolio cover. ; Folio; 16 pages

This is small softcover Exhibition Catalog for a Picasso showing at the Curt Valentin Gallery in New York at the end of 1953. Works covered 1950 - 1953 for oil, a few ceramics, lithographs, aquatints. The photos of some of the pieces are all in black and white. There is an article by Paul Eluard titled Picasso Good Master of Liberty. The cover is yellow are paper (stiff wraps) in a stapled binding. One of the works is photocopies for the the front and rear cover. There is a former owner last name on the blank page (the first page) in ink. There are no other marks or writing. This is a softcover book in Johannet watermarked paper wrappers over paper covers. This book was once exposed to dampness on the lower edges and shows a (matching color tone) water line on the covers and most interior pages. The spine has been restored with matching colored art paper. The book now has a tight binding, strong hinges, otherwise clean covers and pages, and is without marks or writing. The book is illustrated in woodblock line drawings by Cocteau (bright blue ink was used) . This autobiographical work focuses on homosexual aspects of Cocteau's youth. Text in French. One drawing is within the text (3/4 page with text on the verso; there are three additional full page drawings with blank versos) . This is number 197 of a Limited Edition of 475, published by Paul Morihien in 1949.; 8vo

This is a handsome, interesting presentation on color using the papers produced by Strathmore Paper Company and the theories and examples of Munsell with the graphic arts of T. M. Cleland, an artist of the period known for those who liked his work designing covers for Fortune magazine. The book Is comprised of 27 pages of illustrated text that explains the color dynamics by principle and applications. There are supposed to be 19 charts using Strathmore papers to study the dynamics of mixing and using colors to an advantage. The plates are fold -outs on various colored Strathmore original paper and examples of integrating art with the paper. This book lacks one plate ( page 11) . Each fold out includes a stub with five 'wheels' of color. One of the wheels is missing in Plate 1, four are present. There is also some remnants of pencil lines by a child, plus a paper cut in the margin on Plate 1. . This book has two beautiful color examples designed by Helen Dryden, an art deco period artist. Ther examples were engraved by Rudolph Ruzicka. The covers are paper covered in a neutral color and a cloth spine in maroon. There is wear at the top and bottom of the spine - cloth wear. The corners of the book are scuffed with paper breaking and worn. The fold of the last plate has an extra crease and a tear at the fold line. There are no other marks or writing or missing pieces. End papers are clean except for a piece of paper pasted in with the name of a former owner neatly written on it. ; 4to

This is the first edition from 1933 without a dust jacket. The book has a pin point perforation that spells out the name of a private library and city. There is a modest stamp on the last page - of the Index. No other marks. The covers are a bright, cheery red cloth with a title in gilt on the spine. Tight, bright, with a faint touch of fading on the top edges and a little curve in at the top and bottom of the spine. The end papers are pristine except for a tiny label from a New York bookstore. The pages are all crisp and clean except for the stamp already mentioned - on the last page. The top edges are tinted a matching red. Other edges are clean and crisp. There is a frontispiece in color of a watercolor with a tissue guard (to prevent sticking or damage. There are many other illustrations in sepia ink. Binyon was the 'keeper of prints and drawings at the British Museum'. Prolific author and compiler.; 8vo; 201 pages

This is a thrid printing of this hardcover book in a dust jacket. The dust jacket is equally crisp and clean, but with a short closed tear and some edge wear at the corners. Protected from any further wear by its new, see-through, removable mylar cover. The book was illustrated by Miguel Covarrubias, a prolific, collectible artist. The illustrations are simple depictions of the art in up to six colors - within the text and full page. This is the third printing of the first edition. It is a hardcover book with a dust jacket with illustrations by Diego Rivera. There is a handsome illustration in color opposite the title page. There are 15 line drawings with black and white. The end papers are decorated with a map of Mexico and the Pacific and Gulf seas. The book cover has a Mexican decorative design with blue and brick red inks used on a grey cloth binding. There is no wear to the book. There are no marks or writing in this clean inerior. However, there are two pages that have darkening from a newspaper clipping about Mexico as a tourist destination (the discoloration is from an acidic reaction to the newspaper clipping - which is still present) . There is a tiny former owner label pasted down on the front free end paper at the bottom left corner. The dust jacket was made with soft paper which has chips along the edges and the corners. The original price of $3.00 is on the inside bottom of the jacket flap. The jacket is now protected in a new archival see-through and removable mylar cover. The art for the end papers and jacket are by Am Berger. The title page has a line that says: "In Collaboration with Marian Tyler". There is a Foreword, 15 Chapters, a Bibliography, and an Index. ; 8vo; 338 pages

The dust jacket has som corner wear and edge wear at the top of the spine. The top edges are slightly darkened. The rear of the jacket has some spotting which shows on the white background. The top of the inside flap is clipped, a price of $2.50 is printed at the bottom inside corner. The jacket is illustrated with a photo of Utrillo. There is a frontispiece (facing page to the title page) with a color reproduction of Utrillo's Sacre-Coeur et Rue Saint-Rustique. There are no other illustrations. Text in English. ; 8vo; 112 pages
